EPA delays pollution rule in Florida

The EPA has agreed to a one-month delay in imposing controversial pollution standards for freshwater lakes, rivers and streams in Florida.

Florida Senator Bill Nelson requested the delay to allow more time for public comment.

“I support new water standards, but many Florida residents, municipalities, businesses and farmers have expressed concern about the potential cost of these standards and the validity of the science,” Nelson said.

The EPA was poised to impose the new standards for Florida freshwater areas on Oct. 15. Now they are due to take effect on Nov. 15.

for my rich friends to pay for clean water in a flat broke state where that water is one of the biggest tourism draws.
