Comedian Greg Giraldo Is Dead
Source: TMZ.com

Comedian Greg Giraldo died today at the age of 44 -- five days after he was hospitalized for an overdose.

Greg had been hospitalized in New Brunswick, NJ after he overdosed on prescription pills last weekend. A source said the overdose was not a suicide attempt.

Giraldo was best known for his celebrity roast appearances. He had also been a judge on "Last Comic Standing."

A source close to Greg tells us, "Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side."

We're told plans are being made for a public memorial service.

Big pharma's drug dealers don't care, they probably gained 1000 new customers before lunch.

24. A) The OP had a similar comment, yet you didn't say anything.
B) If you've witnessed Giraldo's sense of humor, I don't think he'd mind.

C) Get a life.

16. He's the only comedian so untalented
he can steal a good comic's material and STILL be unfunny. A worthless joke-thief and about as funny as a false positive on a pregnancy test.

30. Did you ever see his arena show on Comedy Central?
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 11:34 AM by YOY
I liked to call the first 20 minutes of him describing something his dad did once when Dane was a child by not taking him to a kids farm nearby...the joke was 20 minutes...without a good punch line. and the way Dane told it? Not funny. It just looked like he had severe daddy issues. Keep in mind I was STONED as hell while watching it...and I still couldn't laugh...

I laugh at just about anything remotely funny while stoned.

Now Greg...he was great! He was that right amount of bitter without being a blatant dick.

26. Shit. Just, shit. Such an easy way to die.
I used to be a pill junkie. I guess I still am, I'm just afraid to take them now. When you abuse prescription painkillers, every time you get loaded is a total roll of the dice. The odds for disaster increase as one descends into the abyss, but it doesn't matter at the time. For whatever reason, I always managed to wake up. Eventually, if you keep playin', your luck will run out...

I truly loved Greg's intellect and irreverent wit. Shit! Shit! Shit!

28. I always enjoyed his humor.
He never cracked the big time, but he was a consistent presence on Comedy Central. He was good on their roasts, and did well on shows where he appeared and did a few minutes of comedy.

29. He was the only one of the core comedians on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn to counter the right wing
Colin himself was right of center, not way out there, but seemed to think it his obligation to counter the previous half hour of the Daily Show's liberalism.

The other top few most regulars like Jim Norton, Rich Vos, and most of all Nick DiPaulo were all certified liberal-bashers.

Giraldo was always your best hope of calling them on their bullshit. This is really sad.

31. I remember seeing him on that show (really lousy show)
I think I used to catch that occasionally because it was on before The Daily Show (?).
Colin Quinn was horrid. And his guests were equally vile. EXCEPT for Giraldo - who was smart and charming.
Quinn had the absolute worst little stand-up intros at the start of this show. Painful. And he was a big GWB fan.
I did the happy dance when that show went away. Haven't seen the crushingly untalented Quinn since.

32. I remember seeing him on The Roast of Flavor Flav (sp?)
I watched it at 1 am in the morning, and he was on there. I thought he was the funniest one out of all of the comedians.

RIP.
