1. As horrific as this was I am still against the death penalty but it did...
cause me to rethink my position.
On the other hand it has freaked my wife out so much that she wants to learn how to shoot my pistols. Prior to this she had zero interest and they made her nervous, which they still do.

12. The trial freaked me out even more than I already was...
It came to light that Komarshevski, Hayes partner in crime, had taken lewd photos of 11 year old Michaela on his cell phone after raping her and they poured gasoline on both girls after tying them to their beds before setting the house on fire.

I'm finding it difficult to deal with that...

17. This has made me cry for those poor girls
And I am struggling MIGHTILY with my wish that they need to die.
Or be tortured for the rest of their lives.

This one has got me right in the heart.
To imagine the pain and suffering those children, CHILDREN! went through.

I just think of my 2 kids...
I'm having a really hard time with this one...

11 years old, fucking animals.
Varelse.

5. I am for the death penalty in this case.
So we don't have to endure another sideshow like Richard Speck.

9. Like Ted Bundy wasn't a side show
He loved jerking the world around. Anyone who does will turn whatever they're involved in into a side show.

18. Douse him in kerosene and set him on fire with a flare gun.
Although I would like that to be the penalty for all violent rapists and pedophiles, personally.

20. I'll leave the decision for the death penalty in the hands of the court.
I agree with Obama when he said it needs to be reserved for crimes so heinous that imprisonment cannot suffice to express a community's rage.

I'll support whatever the people of that community agree upon.

21. That's exactly why I am against the death penalty in ALL cases
Even this one.

If the deciding factor is "the community's rage" then we have no motive other than our own anger and hatred and, yes, rage and outrage. Those should not be the standards of a civilized society.

Is what these two did really any different from what the U.S. military has done in Iraq and Afghanistan, and before that in Vietnam and Cambodia? How many children have our bombs incinerated? How many children have watched their parents be casually murdered, or parents watched their children suffer and die for no reason other than being?

There are few issues I take an absolute stance on, but the death penalty is one of them. No. Never. Not under any circumstances. And yes, I include booosh and cheeeeeney under that protection.
