Top Nevada GOP Lawmaker Endorses Reid

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Veteran state Sen. Bill Raggio, one of Nevada's most influential Republicans over the last four decades, says he's reluctantly endorsing Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's re-election campaign.

Raggio issued a statement Thursday sharply criticizing GOP candidate Sharron Angle, branding her as a "totally ineffective" four-term state lawmaker.

Raggio also cited what he called Angle's inability and unwillingness to work with others even within her own party, and her extreme positions on Social Security and other issues.

Raggio also criticized Angle for badmouthing GOP leaders in a recent secretly taped conversation.

20. I wish you did, too, but Reid is much better than Angle.

It's a clear choice, IMO. We do have to find a way to get more liberal, populist candidates, though.

If Dems win, they feel safe to all but ignore the base--and they move right to keep their donors satisfied and to attract more Indies. If they lose, their takeaway is, "We'd better move further right if we want to win next time."

Reid's website has over 50 TV ads he's run, many of them ripping Angle a new one, but she keeps on going like the energizer bunny.

7. Even I'm reluctantly endorsing Harry Reid

It would be nice if a better Democrat could take that seat. It would be nice if we had a Democrat with "balls" like Nancy Pelosi to run the Senate. But at this point in the election we mostly have two choices for each seat, and we sure the hell don't want the alternative.

On second thought, after thinking about the possibility of teabaggers taking over even 1 seat I'll enthusiastically endorse Reid - even he's miles ahead of any teabagger that's running.

She said she would have supported her son if he had won the nomination instead of Angle, but she supports Reid now.
