Records show Alaska Senate hopeful Joe Miller and his wife owe nearly $1,100 in property tax and fees on vacant land they own in the Fairbanks-North Star Borough.

The campaign of Miller's Republican rival, U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, raised the issue Thursday.

5. All sorts of fun with property taxes in this election. In Massachusetts

one of the candidates for Auditor was taking a tax exemption intended for one's main residence for two different houses. Her justification is that her primary residence is one house, but she principally lives in the other. The Auditors job? To make sure that state agencies and programs follow the rules.
