US soul singer Solomon Burke, who wrote the classic song Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, has died at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport aged 70.

The former preacher turned singer had been due to perform at a well-known club in the city on Tuesday.

2. RIP Rev. Burke
I was lucky enough to see him perform (he was in a chair for his entire performance and weighed about 400 lbs.)as the opener for Keb Mo last year at Oakland's Paramount Theater. He was great, even singing from a chair he could still bring it. He had so many hits over his long career, and yet he was more popular in Europe. He was fromm NOLA and when he performed, his entire family participated, with one number giving rise to the backup singers alternately throwing/passing out Mardi Gras beads and then near the end he had all the women in the audience come up and receive a long-stem red rose. I think it was just his entourage's way of giving back to the audience. One could sure feel the love when he performed. A true believer with lots of soul and will and should be missed by anyone that loves music.

7. Does anyone here know how many women were involved in
giving birth to those 21 children? Or were some of them adopted? Neither IMDB nor Wikipedia mentions any wives/girlfriends/groupies.

Sorry for the poor taste. It just seems like a lot of children.
