Fallujah horror points to rising anti-American rage
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040401/wl_mideast_afp/iraq_us_sunni&cid=1514&ncid=1480

BAGHDAD (AFP) - The horrific killing and dismemberment of American civilian contractors in the Iraqi rebel town of Fallujah was evidence of mounting anti-US rage and a serious blow to coalition efforts to control the "Sunni Triangle".

A year after the US-led military coalition ousted president Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s regime, Fallujah and nearby regions have witnessed bombings, shootings and anti-occupation protests on a daily basis.

American soldiers have been killed, helicopter gunships downed, Humvees all-terrain vehicles bombed, while Iraqi policemen and officials perceived as collaborating with the occupation authorities have been gunned down. snip

"The Americans may have been killed by the guerrillas, but they were dismembered by residents, so it is clear that there is a real hatred from the man on the street," it said.

1. funny how that happens
When you invade a country, kill a lot of people, and steal their oil, people tend to get angry.

7. Who coulda thunk it?
I'm just amazed they are having this reaction just because we invaded their country.

What's a few hundred thousand tons of bombs among friends? We're just trying to help them....

2. Obviously, you are not following this too closely
The administration says this group does not speak for the vast majority who are enjoying their new found democracy. a few bad apples won't deter our resolve to finish the job. As Condi said on 60 Minutes, "our victory in Iraq". Be a lemming...get in line with the program.

3. Hmm you don't say
That was HORRIBLE what happened yesterday. The attacks aren't very surprising the ruthlessness in the aftermath is not something inside the usual parameters of expectation. Once in Somalia and once in Iraq which still makes it very rare.

Mob mentality.

5. and in Vietnam
a head on a stake was a warning to others: "Do not go here." I fail to see any differences between what happened yesterday in Iraq versus the carnage that regularly occurred in Vietnam thirty-five years ago.

11. At least during Vietnam we had images of US atrocities...
like this in our media. Unlike now where we see NONE of the death and destruction the US has brought to Iraq. The murkians have no clue why they hate the US.

of the Vietnamese girl has haunted me over the years. And every time I hear people make remarks about "nuking" people I think of the innocents. Al Jajeera will show these types of photos even though OUR media will not. Hate begets hate.

6. This is the first mainstream objective piece...
that isnt entirely "everything's fine." We need more reporting to paint the picture that everything isn't "just fine in Iraq." This is beginning to anger me quite rightly so that we have a government controlled media in this country.

10. Not sure what you're getting at
I can't undersatnd what all the fuss is about. These "attacks" are completely misunderstood and clearly show American ignorance of foreign cultures.

In Iraq, it is completely normal for citizens to welcome newcomers by blowing up their vehicles, setting their occupants on fire, and mutilating their bodies in the street.

It's just their way of thanking these individuals for coming to their city and liberating them from the previous regime.

Come on America. Let's get with the program.

The Iraqis know they are occupiers who have come to steal their natural resources and install US Military bases. Democracy my ass! The Iraqis are a hell of a lot more informed than the average faux news viewing Amurikan.

16. Media not really "getting it'
At least they ARE reporting this latest outrage. All of the Media I tuned in yesterday were reporting that these isolated few just seem to hate all foreigners. The Media ignored that these people were more than just foreigners.

The Media also continued to emphasize that these victims were civilians. They were more than civilians !!

The people killed yesterday in Iraq were part of the group that were confiscating Iraqi property and resources and marketing these former Iraqi assets to foreign corporations. According to Viceroy Bremmers edict, all of Iraq is now available for 100percent foreign ownership.

Above this, the people killed were armed private security paid to protect the Corporate Executive looters now raping Iraq. Concievably, these private ARMED cops could be considered mercenaries!

Seen in this light, the Iraqi outrage and celebration can be understood. I understand it. It still makes me sick, but MY OUTRAGE is directed at the greedy sociopaths that engineered this, profit from the carnage, and are not affected by the blood on their hands and their souls.
