Sarah Palin says if Iran gets a nuclear weapon, it could lead to Armageddon or World War III
Edited on Tue Oct-12-10 10:32 AM by sabra
Source: ny daily news

Sarah Palin doesn't see Iran having a nuclear weapon as a mere national security problem, she believes it could lead to an ultimate world battle between good and evil.

The Mama Grizzly delivered some of her foreign policy leanings in an interview with the conservative website Newsmax.com, which will further fuel speculation she is running for President in 2012.

"We have to realize that, at the end of the day, a nuclear weapon in that country's hands is not just Israel's problem or America's problem — it is the world's problem," Palin said of Iran.

"It could lead to an Armageddon," Palin said, referencing an epic, end-of-days Biblical battle. "It could lead to that World War III that could decimate so much of this planet."

I mean...how the hell could she win? She's 29% approval. That's Cheney at the end of his term numbers. That's the backwash.

ever again become complacent otherwise we will end up with someone worse than Junior.

I am very pleased to see the Democratic side start to fight and go on the offensive instead of being nice.

14. I'm more concerned with the Boehners and the Romneys than the Palins and Bachmans.
And I mean concerned with emulating them as much as placating them.

I find anyone giving more than 2 hoots about that easy win we'll have over Christine O'Donald character disconcerning. She's just an easy focal point to rally the troops.

Of course I am sure some of us already have scapegoats prepared.

So glad for them.

Personally, fear doesn't motivate me. In fact it demotivates me.

Scaring people into political action is for Republicans.

36. EXACTLY!
although I don't know if she said it in so many words but MadMaddie
you took the words right out of my mouth. In Palin's eyes good would prevail if we blew them to kingdom come.

Then all would be right with the world and everyone will happily ever-after, in her logic.

11. US reaction to WMD is what will bring the world closer to
"Armageddon" and "WWIII".

We've heard all this before.

If we lose Vietnam the communists will take over the world and end freedom forever.

Iraq has WMD and will end the world with them.

Same story, different mouth the shit flows out of, nothing more.

43. FYI,
most biblical "scholars" explain Armageddon as the historical battle of Megiddo. It is NOT the end of the world and as for WW3, what are we currently fighting as GWOT?
Little sarah is a distraction. Her political capital is nil and she represents nothing American, except self-aggrandizement and shameless hucksterism. If the GOP/Party of No want to float this trial balloonhead, let them. Organize at grass-roots level on issues that matter to your neighbors. Get out the vote, even if you have to wear a clothespin on your nose!

21. If World War III happens...
...then EVERYTHING will have led up to it. Let me see if I understand this right. If Iran explodes one nuclear weapon (in Israel) then Israel wipes Iran off of the map with a massive retaliation and the entire Arab world hates Israel for 3000 years. How is that different than today?

25. You have a good point, but I'd rather support a two-state peace process
than a heavily-armed and hate-filled status quo.

There's also the collateral damage to consider. More than just the Middle East would be contaminated with nuclear fallout. Pakistan and India, both nuclear armed, would get into it, as would Russia and--horrors!-- the US.

30. A broke clock is correct once in a while.
A nuclear armed Iran "could" lead to Armageddon or WWIII.

Emphasis on "could".

DPRK has nukes. Why no Armageddon or WWIII?

India and Pakistan both have nukes. Why no Armageddon there?

The French have nukes. Why no Armageddon there?

After WWII, nuclear weapons just show one thing: attack us and we have the capability of annihilating you, or at least causing your population some serious grief. It's a deterrent. As it is in every other country of the world.

Show me a war that has happened in the last 50 years where nuclear weapons were used as a means to start or end a war. Only war I can think of is WWII. Come to think of it, show me an actual physical war that the USA has been directly involved in where its opponents have had nuclear weapons?

Sorry, apart from clandestine support for the mujahadeen (sp?) in Afghanistan during the Soviet era, or undercover support for Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war I can't really think of any.

41. What does that nitwit know about nuclear weapons?
Iran's nuclear program is aimed at producing electricity, but that nitwit and her fear-mongering nitwits want us to believe it's aimed at producing a nuclear weapon! Iran's (f*cked up) leaders may be foolish ghouls, but they're not stupid!

To produce just ONE nuke, to begin with, it would require them to TEST it at least ONCE (to see if their 'plans' function as... planned). DUH! To produce a FUNCTIONING nuke, it's not enough to build it and just SAY they have one... They would need to put it to the TEST! What a concept!!

And IF they were to TEST what would be their first nuke, even in any SECRET location of their choosing, the entire world would DETECT it FROM FAR AWAY!! Does she really think they would NOT TEST a first nuke, and just send 'WHAT THEY WOULD HOPE' is a nuke (WITHOUT TESTING IT FIRST?) all the way to Israel (in an act of war of aggression)? That's a BIG stretch...

Doesn't that nitwit know Iran's (f*cked up) leaders would never do that unless they would WANT Iran to be blown up in fumes in less that 24 hours? And that is, assuming their hypothetical collective UN-TESTED suicide bombing would not just go 'PFFFT' instead of ...

What a moran.

Tina is our own 'electoral nuke' deterrent against that despicable war-monger if she runs (and is nominated, which is another big stretch)!
