2. Too many Godfather movies
This crap has to stop. Legalize the drugs and this kind of shit will go away.

But these thugs will fight against the legalization. Their tentacles are growing longer and longer, and we can thank the DEA for that, but not for their intrinsic lack of a modicum of decency.

17. I'm not in favor of prohibition
But no, legal weed will NOT stop greedy, violent people from being greedy, violent people!

The change needs to be cultural and economic, not legal!

As long as there are people, regardless of their financial situation, who want the big score with minimum work, there will be crime!

19. Ending the insane so called "War on Drugs" will create
major cultural and economic affects.

From a philosophical/cultural standpoint the US and Mexico would become more holistic and less draconian in the treatment of their citizens.

Major portions of both nations will become more trusting of and less alienated from their governments and police forces as those institutions would be working for the people instead of against them.

As a result those governments and police forces will become stronger for having a larger % of their citizenry supporting them.

Such a change would dry up major sources of income for organized crime and drug gangs.

Money spent on dead end prisons could be used for either education, prevention and treatment of people addicted to drugs allowing breadwinners to maintain their jobs, support their families, and thereby reduce the number of broken families.

With less emphasis placed on criminalizing their general populations over medical or personal privacy issues, both governments and police forces would have more time, energy and resources to battle violent crime and corruption.

15. The problem is.....
...it could just as easily been the same person who ordered his murder. Prohibition basically only enriches the crooked and the politicians (which many would argue are one in the same), and will kill anyone who gets in their way.

7. Big clusterf*ck of corruption to the highest bidder.
Most of the corruption is infiltrated into the government.

The AP reported at the time that the investigation would likely be complicated by regional gang wars between the Gulf Cartel and the Zeta drug gang, made up of former Mexican special forces soldiers.

There's no winning the war down there, as long as money is being pumped (for drug wars) into that country from ours.
