Candidate in California governor's race arrested
Source: CNN

(CNN) - A Green Party candidate in the California's governor's race was arrested Tuesday after trying to get into a debate she was not allowed to participate in.

Laura Wells, 62, from Oakland tried to enter a debate between leading candidates in the race: Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman and Democratic opponent Jerry Brown, police said.

Wells was not allowed to be part of the debate because of her lack of support in the polls, CNN-affiliate KTVU reported.

1. Catch-22.
You have no support, so you get no free publicity.

4. What a load of crap. There are 6 candidates listed on
the ballot. They should all be welcome at a debate. Who cares what their poll numbers are. We teach kids in school they live in a democracy where everyone has a chance to be heard and then we arrest candidates who want nothing more than a seat at the table. It's all bullshit.

in the tight confines of what the One Party says it should be, and keep all others out.

9. what a pathetic example of how undemocratic we are as a whole
in this country. What purpose is calling our system democratic if people outside of the two parties can't get exposure. It took her getting arrested for us to see this ugly truth.

13. But if all the candidates were included
Edited on Wed Oct-13-10 12:04 PM by OutNow
we might hear a call for quickly ending both of Bush's wars, or enforcing existing environmental regulations, or even a demand to properly fund education. And all those other crazy ideas. Wait a minute. I support those proposals and might vote for a candidate like that.

Oh, now I get it.
