RFK, Jr. Endorses Charlie Crist's Senate Campaign
Source: CBS News

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has endorsed Florida Governor Charlie Crist's campaign for the U.S. Senate.

While a new Quinnipiac University poll shows independent Florida Governor Charlie Crist trailing Republican Marco Rubio by double-digits; Crist continues to roll out some big names to support his campaign.

The Kennedy name has a storied history in U.S. history, and RFK, Jr. has earned his reputation through his work for environmental causes among other issues. Kennedy is the son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, who was murdered in California while running for president in 1968.

Still, it may be too little, too late for Crist, unless Democrat Kendrick Meek decides to give up his candidacy and throw his weight behind Crist. The latest poll from Quinnipiac gives Rubio 44 percent, Crist 30 percent, and Meek 22 percent.

1. Why??
Let's see - you have someone who has continuously throughout his political life voted for the environment (Meek) and someone who changed his mind when it became politically expedient (Crist). It is just so alarming to me. We want good Democratic candidates and now we're throwing a guy away because a Repuke says he's now an Independent. I just don't get it.

9. Thanks Freddie
I'm really getting sick of the people even on this site calling for Meek (and his name is Meek) to drop out. Why should anyone endorse a faux anything when you have the real deal in Kendrick Meek. This is just heartbreaking.

Oh and I got a little more info yesterday that it was charlie Crist who put out the information that meek was gonna drop out. charLIE the liar wants devision, so his old pal marco can win this race. And I still believe that was charLIE and Marco's plan all along. The people who are fooled today and are falling for his crap are just unbelievable!!

25. Meek is an ex-state trooper btw
Sure, maybe 10% or so of state troopers aren't psychopathic bullies on power trips. I don't like those odds though.

10. He's backing a loser who endorsed Palin and drilling
http://blogs.tampabay.com/buzz/2010/05/flashback-charlie-drill-here-drill-now-crist.html

I support the Democratic candidate, Kendrick Meek, who has a strong and long environmental history over Palin pal Crist any day. Why? I'm a Democrat, and Democrats support Democrats, even DU used to do so. I still do.

Republican to win it. Just call it for Rubio.

22. Power
It is a power struggle.

And there is a good chance to send Crist away forever. Crist's power freaks have gotten to RFK and buttered him up. Cuz they know Crist is one of them and when he loses big this election they lose a star. I say good. Let Charlie go into the history books and fade away.

Meanwhile we have a rising star in the party: Meek. He threatens the power structure and so the PTB are rallying against Meek.

Crist is a loser who couldn't even win his own party's nomination.

If Crist dropped out, as he should, and the race was Meek over the bushco Rube, who would RFK be supporting? I fear he'd just be quiet as a mouse.

23. For Florida Democrats, FL Senate is damned if you do, damned if you don't
We don't want to endorse a former Republican who is only not running R because he got teabagged. We also don't want
teabagger-crazy Rubio to win either. The sad reality is that if Meek doesn't pull out and endorse Crist, we get
Senator Rubio. What is worse, abandoning the Democratic candidate to prevent a Teabagger Senator, or sticking with
him, even though it's hopeless and ensures Rubio in the Senate?

What an awful choice to ask a Democrat to make. I'm glad I'm from Texas. At least we KNOW which hopeless causes to
vote for, and THIS time, for once, I think Bill White is a HOPEFUL cause.
