Bachmann campaign opens checkbooks – and eyes
Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune

The Republican House member has raised a record $10 million in her reelection bid, raising her national profile.

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, already a presence on the national stage, stunned the political world with news that she has raised $10 million for her reelection bid -- more than any other House candidate in the country has ever collected.

More than half of that -- $5.4 million -- has come just since July, in a race against DFL state Sen. Tarryl Clark that had already become the most expensive House contest in the country. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, in Minneapolis for a party luncheon, heralded the announcement as fresh evidence that Bachmann embodies the future of the Republican Party.

7. Scary to think American mentality has sunk that much. And Repugs want to defund education
They don't want you to know what's going on. Even scarier to think of Bachmann as a leading voice in Minnesota, less this country. Dear God, please let Minnesotans come to their senses before election day. She is destroying their state and apparently has done nothing at all for them. I'm sure it is corporate, bank, foreign industry, big pharma, oil, and NRA lobbyists doing the giving. She is bought and paid for. Let's show her that we will not let foreign countries and crooked politicians run this country anymore. Incumbents are OUT! Democrats vote in this election. It's mandatory if you want to save your ass.

15. She is very marginalized in the state
Overall she is one of the least respected politicians in the state, even though she gets the most press with her senseless rants.

10. Something's Fishy
I continue to be stunned at the outright in your face corruption of this election. I would be willing to bet that she did not raise this kind of money in 2 months through small donations of astroturf support. THIS is what we are going to have to deal with if corporate money buys our government, it is based on corruption, lies and no workable solutions.

What I don't understand is, how can republicans not see what is going on here and see that if they vote for this it will be against their own best interest? How do they think that this type of politician is going to make their life better?

It makes me sick, and I can only pray that the democrats come out November 2 and show that one PERSON = one vote. All the money in the world cannot give the GOP this election if the democrats get out and vote.

This has been going on for quite some time and I believe stupid, un-informed, easily manipulated, or the wealthy vote Republican.

18. There are no sane republi-CONS. Sanity and the GOP are completely incompatible.
You can't be in the GOP and be in full charge of your faculties - or your conscience. And don't even try to find a heart in there either. They don't have any.
