Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF party has announced the formation of committee to investigate and weed out corruption in companies wholly or partly owned by the party.
Thursday's edition of the state-run Herald newspaper reports the five-member committee is made up of high-ranking ZANU-PF and government officials who will examine the structure and operation of the companies. The report says the panel began its work Wednesday.
The Herald reports the probe is likely to extend beyond Zimbabwe's borders as some of the companies being investigated are international and are registered in other countries.
The report says the probe comes after a number of the nation's financial companies have been convicted of illegally dealing in foreign currency.
