Liberal Groups Lag in Late Efforts to Raise Cash; Less Money for Key Races
Source: Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON—A late effort by Democrats to match record fund raising by conservative organizations has come up short, leaving the party more reliant than usual on the campaign efforts of labor unions.

A key pro-Democratic group, recently created by top party insiders to build a "firewall" around the Democrats' majority in the House, said Thursday it hoped to raise $10 million. That's a fraction of the $50 million that an alliance of GOP groups said Tuesday they would spend to help Republicans in dozens of House races.

We are David vs. Goliath," said Ramona Oliver, a spokeswoman for the new Democratic group, called America's Families First Action Fund. Founded this summer, it began raising money after Labor Day to help counter Republican fundraising efforts. It once hoped to help protect up to 30 Democratic House seats, but is now focusing on just 18 campaigns, Ms. Oliver said.

In total, outside conservative groups—such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, American Action Network and American Crossroads—could spend more than $300 million on TV advertisements, campaign mailings and other efforts to elect Republicans to Congress this year. Outside Democratic groups, by contrast, plan to spend about $100 million on those activities. The largest labor unions say they will spend $200 million combined, but most of their focus will be on rallying union voters.

Here is the Wall Street Journal bragging about the fundraising prowness of conservative groups like the Chamber of Commerce and Karl Rove's group, American Crossroads compared to liberal groups like unions. Thus, the amount of money raised becomes a proxy for public support, and since corporations can raise far more money than liberal leaning groups like unions and environmentalists, then this means that the American public must support corporations and oppose liberal causes.

Yup, it is another step toward Corporate Coup 2010 following the Citizens United decision.

2. Rich nailed it: when he said we are experiencing a Corporate Coup
masquerading as a grassroots movement. I am paraphrasing.

3. I know we are trailing in overall funds, it would be almost impossible to raise all the
money they are getting just from India and the middle eastern countries, but we have a lot of small Leftist groups supporting our more liberal Democrats. These groups are NOT related to the national Democratic Party.

I support several of them myself, in my own little way...Act Blue, MoveOn.org, Dean's organization and several candidate's own funds. I have NOT given a dime to the National Party.

You realise that despite all their cash, the GOP is struggling to stay even i a lot of races...too many people are seeing their real face despite all their efforts at propaganda.

They lie.

5. Wow, you don't' suppose the "Wall Street Journal" has a dog in this fight, do you?
"Wall Street?"

Which party are, for the most part, flunkies and cabana boys for Wall Street?

Did this paper report on the amount of foreign money coming in to fund Republicans?

6. We're too busy blaming Obama for everything

The left so often looks for reasons not to vote. This time, it's Obama.

In 1980, it was Jimmy Carter. In 1968, it Hubert Humphrey/LBJ/Viet Nam. That worked out so well for all of us.

"A key pro-Democratic group, recently created by top party insiders to build a "firewall" around the Democrats' majority in the House..."

And isn't that the DNC's job?
