Colorado Senate Debate: Ken Buck Compares Being Gay To Alcoholism
Source: Huffington Post

On Sunday, Buck made clear that he believes being gay is a choice, although he said that birth may have some "influence" over it -- such as with alcoholism:

GREGORY: Do you believe that being gay is a choice?

BUCK: I do.

GREGORY: Based on what?

BUCK: Based on what? I guess you can choose who your partner is.

GREGORY: You don't think it's something that's determined at birth?

BUCK: I think that birth has an influence over it, like alcoholism and some other things, but I think that basically, you have a choice.

1. I guess you can choose who your U.S. Senator is, too,
and I hope Coloradans choose Mr. Buck's opponent.

The upper chamber has enough clueless bigots in it already.

12. It's Bennet, and I'm leaning towards to voting for him
instead of withholding my vote.

Wife's ballot came in, we'll fill it and then have it sent.

I'll vote November 2nd.

18. Withholding your vote is a vote for Buck.
You should know that.

8. I saw that too
and was a bit surprised that he was so open about his bigotry. That really is what explains reich wing opposition to equal rights for gay people, they believe that it is a choice. A choice that society can either allow or discourage.

That's the attitude we need to combat before we can make more true progress on this issue.

9. You can't pick your sexuality but you can choose to be honest with who you are & come out
When will these people realize this? The only "choice" involved with sexuality is whether you choose to admit who you are and what/who you like.

10. Well, He's Right
You do choose your partner.

That being said, you can choose a partner to whom you are genuinely attracted, and have fondness, affection and yet, lust for - that is, a partner with whom you have mutual pleasure. ON the other hand, you can choose a partner solely for practical reasons.

Let us say that the bible didn't tell us that homosexuality is a sin, or that we decided not to follow that part of the bible, as we have decided not to follow many others (eating shellfish, slavery, stoning adulterers, etc) Could Buck take a male sexual partner and enjoy it?

16. That Is So Ignorant, It Is Unbelievable
The only conclusion one can draw is that Ken Buck is an alcoholic and probably in the closet, too.

17. so is he in the closet ? did he just "choose" a female partner
because he is in politics and needs to make the right choices ?

He compares it to alcoholism so perhaps he only "drinks" once in a while, wink, wink. Say no more, Know what I mean?
