Long Beach Rep. Laura Richardson's Sacramento house up for short sale

Reporting from Sacramento —

The Sacramento home of Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Long Beach) has been listed for short sale, months after Sacramento County documents indicated that the congresswoman was behind in payments on the property by more than $42,000.

Richardson's real estate woes have been well chronicled since Capitol Weekly reported that her house had slipped into default in 2008. The home was seized by the bank and sold at auction, apparently without Richardson's knowledge. Richardson said she learned that her house had been sold only after reading the news reports.

In a highly unusual move, the foreclosure sale was later rescinded, after a deal was reached with the auction buyer and Richardson's bank. Neither party would discuss the terms of the agreement.

Really? Is this the news we need to hear at a time when Democrats are in danger of losing Congress?

2. While I trust that this is a true story, this story is gonna put her seat in danger
right? Depending on how many independents live in her district.

3. maybe she should have taken care of this before the election
the house was originally foreclosed on in 2008

she's had two years to take care of this

if she was a republican and the same thing had happened, people over here would have been calling for her head on a pike

4. As Richardson is a Representative, she had an election 2 years ago
I'm reading her Wikipedia entry, which has a section devoted to the house controversy. It's been public knowledge before the 2008 House election in the CA-37 district, and in 2008 Richardson won with about 76% of the vote with only one challenger - an independent!

5. EXACTLY!!
many of the folks here feel intellectually superior, and somehow think that there are only two points of view - theirs and the wrong one

6. You don't know what happened or what she's done.
These banksters are stringing these cases out as long as possible to discourage people from mounting their case and there's nothing the borrower can do about it short of hauling them into court which means more delay.
