Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 01:51 PM by FourScore
Source: AP

A new poll says Wisconsin's U.S. Senate race is a tossup between Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold and Republican challenger Ron Johnson.

The St. Norbert College Survey Center poll shows Johnson ahead, 49% to 47%. The margin of error is 5%age points.

Other recent polls have shown Johnson with a slight lead. However, Feingold says his internal polling has been showing a virtual tie among likely voters.

The poll released Tuesday afternoon also found that 42% of respondents approve of the job President Barack Obama is doing, while 52% disapprove...

13. It's a good news Tuesday!
Early voting has started here in NC and been going on for a few days now.

Any news on what early voting (in all states that have it) is showing?

And while I'm on the subject (a little off topic)

The early voting stations here are open 9 to 5. Why? Can't the do like 12 -8 or 2 sessions 6 AM - 10 and then like 3 - 7. Y'know, so people who work can go vote before or after work. And of course Nov 2 should be a holiday so people can go vote at their leisure (and because it's my birthday!)

5. This is insane
Seriously, what is going on? Feingold was down by at least 10 in dozens of polls and now hes tied? If this isn't evidence of a dem surge, I dont know what it. I also have a serious question, if we put Wisconsin back to a toss-up, are there any seats besides the immediate losses of Arkansas, North Dakota, Indiana, and New Hampshire that the republicans are favored to win? In the last month we have seen California, Washington, Connecticut, Delaware, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Alaska all become much more friendly to dems when many of these were considered dead on arrival just a month ago.

I dont want to sound too optimistic but HOLY SHIT.

6. My theory is economy and jobs.
Deserved or not, President Obama (and by association all Democrats) are being judged on the economy and jobs (obviously despite the fact that it takes far more than 19 months to fix what Bush had 8 years to screw up). The economy is finally starting to look up, despite the media's most valiant effort to ignore that fact, and all of a sudden the repukes don't look like quite such a good choice.

15. Voting is like Driving. To go forward you must select 'D'. To go backwards, select 'R'.

I copied this from someone who posted this on one of Feingold's links.

16. It is good news but don't get your hopes to high.
This poll is something of an outlier at this point. There's a lot of bitter people here and they're highly motivated. Hopefully, the good people of WI will see through Johnson's bullshit and become equally motivated to get out.

17. It would be great to see a furious finish toward a
satisfying victory in this one for Russ Feingold.

I'm guessing that among progressives coast to coast, he ranks very high on the Favorite Senators list.

A lot of people just feel that he's a keeper. I agree with 'em.

Go, Russ.
