(Fox News 'Exclusive'): Al Qaeda Leader Dined at the Pentagon Just Months After 9/11
Source: Fox News

Anwar Al-Awlaki may be the first American on the CIA's kill or capture list, but he was also a lunch guest of military brass at the Pentagon within months of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Fox News has learned.

Documents exclusively obtained by Fox News, including an FBI interview conducted after the Fort Hood shooting in November 2009, state that Awlaki was taken to the Pentagon as part of the military’s outreach to the Muslim community in the immediate aftermath of the attacks.

The incident was flagged by a current Defense Department employee who came forward and told investigators she helped arrange the meeting after she saw Awlaki speak in Alexandria, Va.

The employee "attended this talk and while she arrived late she recalls being impressed by this imam. He condemned Al Qaeda and the terrorist attacks. During his talk he was 'harassed' by members of the audience and suffered it well," reads one document.

... The Pentagon has offered no explanation of how a man, now on the CIA kill or capture list, ended up at a special lunch for Muslim outreach. Army public affairs official Gary Tallman was asked for comment five times between Oct. 13-19, but has responded only by asking how Fox News knew about the event.

1. Fox doesn't publish news unless it fits an agenda.
What's the agenda with this one?

This is very curious, to say the least.

I went there to see how much they were hyperventilating over Soros, but this was the big honkin' headline that greeted me instead.

4. That was my thought exactly...
Thought two is perhaps they will push for prosecution of war criminals so as to keep the Prez, et al, completely tied up in litigation for the next two years since their bid for Congress seems to be falling flat.

No funny business there or anything.

11. No telling, but they seem to confuse the fact that he spoke there years before

being put on the "wanted list" or whatever it is called now.

He could just be another conjured up bogeyman. Or he could really be a bad guy. They don't really care, just know that "they've infiltrated our perimeter! Be scared!"

He's now a member in the Emmanuel Goldstein of the Month Club.

22. Good point.

It also helps blur the line as to why Bush's Administration released so many
members of the Bin Laden family back to Saudi Arabia without questioning and
whilst no other civilians (of any nationality) were allowed to travel.

6. It's wierd to say the least
To confuse and distract us? Are they throwing Bushco under the bus? Does this have anything to with Rove's criticism of the Tea Party? Lemme get out my chalkboard and maybe I can piece this all together.......

7. If Fox "News" is publishing this, it must mean that
some prominent Dems were at the meeting - probably ones running for election next month. Look for a pic of Al-Awaki & Harry Reid toasting each other to be shown tomorrow.

9. On Rachel's show she was talking to Palin's handler during the election of 2008.
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 03:01 PM by county worker
They were talking about how the right is demonetizing Muslims and that George Bush came out right after 9/11 and tried to make sure the country didn't blame all Muslims for 9/11. But now it is OK to do so and I think FOX is giving support to the idea that what Bush was doing wasn't the right thing to do and it is OK to blame all Muslims for terrorism.

Palin's handler was thrown under the bus by Palin and now is coming out with a novel about women who run for the presidency and a rouge woman vice presidential candidate.

10. They compressed nearly 10 years of history into that timeline and inverted the narrative.
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 03:01 PM by izzybeans
He was invited right after 9-11 because of his condemnation of al qaeda. What happened between then and his alleged ties to current bombing attempts and the shootings Ft. Hood is a mystery, which would be a far more interesting story to pursue than whatever point they are making with this.

This story reads as if he was invited after he was on the "wanted list". Either the person who wrote this story has the same sense for narrative explanation as a third grader or they deliberately jumbled the facts to cast suspicion on whatever they want to undermine. With Fox there is no telling.

17. The timeline seems clear to me.
I'm not sure what you think was jumbled. They clearly state when he was invited and that he is now on the wanted list.

12. "Muslim Outreach is dangerous" - that's the likely agenda.
They're trying to say that outreach only lets "them" into the fold....

23. If I were guessing I would guess that he is a mole
Or a would be mole and him being on the kill list is just to make him legit...
But who could really guess it could be any kind of a plot given the fact that there are people in the CIA and military capable of all kinds of deceptions.

But I think Fox will use this to criticize the outreach to Muslems...See they slap our hands when we reach out to them will be the frame they use.

24. Oddly enough, wasn't the "official" line at
that time was that Osama Bin Laden was the leader of Al Queda. This is getting more and more confusing every day.

25. He was most likely there to
get the "official" story of what role he supposedly played in the 9/11 attacks. The pieces just keep falling into place. Reopen the 9/11 investigation now.

26. well, if they were going to report some news
they could remind the public that Gen. Mahmoud(sp) from Pakistan, I believe was in Washington at the time of 9/11--he allegedly wired funds to one of the hijackers (Atta).

he was a double agent from the way he seemed to move around quite freely
(in previous reports I've read about him).
