Racist Gunman Stalks Swedish City of Malmo
Source: Fox

Dark-skinned residents of Sweden’s third largest city were put on alert Thursday by police who believe a would-be serial killer is behind more than a dozen shootings targeting ethnic minorities.

A young woman has been killed and eight people wounded during 15 separate shootings in Malmo over the past year. In a city already plagued by racial tensions, police issued a direct warning to ethnic minorities.

"If you have dark skin you should be extra cautious. If you are in the risk group -- that is, being colored -- then you should avoid lonely places like bus stops at night," Lars-Haakan Lindholm, a police spokesman, said.

Some believe the shootings are linked to the rise of the far-right after the Sweden Democrat Party won its first seats in parliament last month on a platform of halting immigration.

2. UPI: Shooter targeting immigrants in Sweden
http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2010/10/21/Shooter-targeting-immigrants-in-Sweden/UPI-56141287695939/

MALMO, Sweden, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Immigrants to Sweden appear to have become targets of a gunman or group of people, police in Malmo said Thursday. At a news conference, J.B. Cederholm of the Skane County Police said investigators believe that 15 shootings in the past year were carried out by the same person or group, TT/The Local reported. He said immigrants were the target in 14 shootings.

The first victims, a young man and woman, were shot as they sat in a car in October 2009. The woman, 20, was killed, and the man, 21, an immigrant, survived.

Cederholm said immigrants and their children should be cautious after dark. He also urged members of the public to summon police as quickly as possible if they witness a shooting, Kvallsposten reported. "You shouldn't give chase. The first thing you should think about is your own safety, then call the police," Cederholm said.

Mats Lassen, a police spokesman, said investigators are trying to determine if right-wing groups are behind the violence.

3. Malmö has one of the worst ghettos in Scandinavia; mostly unassimilated Muslims immigrants
Edited on Fri Oct-22-10 06:26 AM by Eryemil
if I remember correctly, so it makes sense that this sort of backlash would begin there.

6. So according to you, dark-skinned = Muslim = Un-assimilated = deserves death?
I hope Scandinavia isn't full of people like yourself, there is little hope for justice or apprehension of these right-wing criminals in that case.

7. Get a fucking grip
Seriously, you sound like a deranged headcase. I was simply stating a fact and in no way expressing my own opinions on the matter. Every single assertion I wrote above, except for the very last, is an easily verified fact. That last one is merely a supposition.

9. Some people here see racism in everything.
They probably think Kleenex is racist because it only comes in white....

10. It was very difficult to tell what you meant
and I'm still not sure.

Could I just point out? -- "assimilated" is part of the language used by people and groups who object to ethnic/cultural/religious groups adhering to their own practices in the society in which they settle, rather than abandoning them and adopting the majority's practices.

"Integration" is the aim, in modern multicultural societies. It encompasses the notion of inclusion, whereas demanding that people assimilate is exclusionary.

I know many are not familiar with these concepts and nuances, and I would not automatically read any intent into your own use of that term.

5. Get Kurt Wallander on the case!

/Yes, I know Wallander is set in Ystad, Not Malmo, however Kurt did start his career there as a patrolman, according to the books.
