Secret Dr David Kelly Medical Files Released

Secret medical files have been published by the Ministry of Justice in an attempt to end speculation the circumstances of the government scientist's death were hushed up.

The expert was found dead in woods near his home in Oxfordshire in 2003 but the files say the wounds to his body were "typical of a self-inflicted injury".

The post-mortem report, which was supposed to be kept secret for 70 years, concludes he died from a haemorrhage and wounds to his wrist.

It found Dr Kelly had at least five cuts of varying depth and had severed his ulnar artery. The report describes "heavy bloodstaining over the left arm".

11.04 am (UK time): The release of the reports today hasn't quietened some of the critics. Michael Powers QC, was one of the group of nine doctors who were calling for a full inquest into Kelly's death in August of this year, and said today that today's publication hadn't changed his mind.

Powers told BBC News this morning that there was "nothing new" in the documents and there was still a "major conflict" over the amount of blood at the scene.

He said that Kelly may have taken "far less than 29 tablets" and, if he had only taken six or eight, "one might draw completely different conclusions".

"I don't believe any of the evidence that we have seen or heard to date can answer those questions," Powers said.

4. Now, honestly, did releasing those documents hurt anyone or anything?

Why did they wait so long to clarify some of the facts about his death?

They wonder why people are divided and then they are so secretive.

They (the powers that be from the lowest bureaucrat to the highest office in government) want to know everything about our lives. Especially in Britain, they install all kinds of snooping devices, microphones, cameras and use helicopters to watch our neighborhood when we are doing absolutely nothing in the remotest of any interest to anyone and then hide facts from us.

How about using some common sense about these things?

Now people who are really interested in this can look at the documents and decide for themselves. That should help put to rest some of the exaggerations on both sides. This is how you end false conspiracy theories. Failure to allow everyone to learn all the facts about events strengthens and justifies the belief in a conspiracy theory.
