Iran Starts Loading Fuel Into Bushehr Nuclear Reactor, Press TV Reports

Iran began loading fuel into the core of its nuclear reactor in the southern city of Bushehr, state-run Press TV reported.

The Islamic republic started transferring fuel to the reactor area in preparation for loading on Aug. 21, when a ceremony was held to mark the opening of the Russian-built facility, Iran’s first nuclear power plant.

The loading process will take about a month, Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the country’s Atomic Energy Organization, has said. Iranian officials say the 1,000-megawatt plant is expected to begin producing power on Dec. 21.
