Octopus that predicted World Cup scores has died

BERLIN -- Sea Life Aquarium says that Paul the Octopus who gained worldwide fame with his perfect World Cup predictions has died. He was 2 1/2.

Aquarium spokeswoman Ariane Vieregge in Oberhausen said Tuesday that Paul seemed fine when checked on late Monday night but was found dead in his tank Tuesday morning.

She says that it was normal for an octopus of his type to die at that age and that he had died of natural causes.

2. If he didn't predict his own death
he should sue himself for malpractice.

P.S. Did anyone think to ask him about the midterm elections?

;)

3. I saw a Discovery show recently
that followed octupi in the Meditteranean. I was surprised they died in one or two years. Usually highly intelligent animals live fairly long lives. I expected that to be true of the lovely octopus.

12. Octopus lifespans make me sad
Anything as smart as a typical octopus should have a somewhat less mayfly-like existence.

10. They should have sold him when they had the chance....
Weren't some people offering ridiculous amounts of money for the octopus after the world cup thing?? I remember at least 6 figures I think. They should have taken that when they had the chance!! Too late now.

14. K&R. Awwww. How sad...
I've seen stories on him and his predictions were truly remarkable. I realize that we're talking about an octopus, but what are the odds? :wow: ;(
