Vince McMahon sues Connecticut over WWE ban
Source: TMZ.com

Vince McMahon is raising hell in Connecticut -- the WWE honcho just filed a lawsuit claiming the CT Secretary of the State had no right to ban WWE clothing from the polls ... just because his wife Linda is running for U.S. Senate.

Vince's beef is with a new directive from the Sec. of the State's office that gives officials the power to turn away anyone who wears WWE clothing within 75 feet of a polling place ... because it could be interpreted as a solicitation on behalf of Linda McMahon's candidacy.

In the documents, filed today in federal court in Connecticut -- McMahon claims the ban will "threaten the constitutional rights and liberties of voters who have expressed a desire to wear WWE paraphernalia to their poling places."

2. I think they should be allowed to wear that s**t to vote...it'll remind sane voters
of linda's filthy business in case they were wavering just as they were about to vote.

5. I feel exactly the way you do. The shirt would confirm that not voting
for her would be the right decision.

4. As an election judge, this ruling makes perfect sense to me
I've had one teabagger slip her little badge past me bearing a name such as "Texans United For Change" that turned out to be an ad for a tebagger group, so I have to be on the lookout for anything that could visually influence voters one way or another. I want the polling place kept neutral.

6. Like the lawsuits and newscycle aren't returning even better than tee's at a voting place or two.

The only ones getting hosed are those of us who pay the taxes or get closed out of a crowded court docket by if not frivilous lawsuits delaying some other real justice, a series of lawsuits created to make for headlines and leading stories and mention all over WWF nationaly.

In some ways he wins no matter what. In fact, why wouldn't he have preferred getting banned over being allowed to station WWF tee's at a few polling places?

7. Lawsuit already "settled"
Source: wrestlingobserver.com

Lawsuit settled already; WWE claims victory
WWE sent out a release saying that Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz notified all Registrars of Voters and town clerks in Connecticut via e-mail to allow people wearing WWE merchandise to vote.

The WWE is using this as a victory over Richard Blumenthal as well.

"Attorney General Richard Blumenthal should have immediately stepped in to enforce the law. As a result of the Attorney General's inaction, I brought suit to enfroce these basic, fundamental constitutional rights. Within hours of filing the lawsuit, Blumenthal recused himself, and Bysiewicz reversed her position." wrote Vince McMahon.

15. It is such complete and utter small potatoes. It is so unimportant. And kind of funny.
Does Vince really think any of us in CT care about this? Vince needs to stick to wrestling.

9. Hate to agree with this snake, but I do
It's an infringement on speech, pure and simple. What about the WWE wrestlers themselves? Are they banned too?

14. LOL! My parents support McMahon. I cannot imagine them wearing WWE t-shirts to their local polling
place in Cheshire. They are 62. It would be hilarious. I don't think most of us in Connecticut care either way. I don't see a lot of people donning their WWE gear and then going to the polls. This is just too funny. CT has more important things to worry about.

how much the McMahon candidacy shouldn't be taken seriously.

17. Good old Vince
Is there a better marketer in the world?

He knows how to jump on some free publicity in a second.

And now he gets to claim he beat the government down for his common man fans.

Got to hand it to him. A born showman.
