FBI links shots fired at Pentagon, Marine museum

Two shootings that targeted U.S. military buildings in Northern Virginia have been conclusively linked to the same weapon, and law enforcement officials think a third attack on a Marine Corps recruiting office this week could be part of the same unexplained spree.

Law enforcement officials announced Tuesday that ballistics tests linked bullets found at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle on Oct. 17 with evidence found at the Pentagon two days later. Both buildings are within range of busy interstate highways and are about 30 miles apart.

Law enforcement officials declined to discuss the type of weapon used in the shootings or the caliber of ammunition, but they have said previously that they believe the rounds were fired using a high-velocity rifle.

The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force has taken the lead in the investigation. Agents are working to do ballistics testing on material found at the scene of a shooting at a Marine Corps recruiting office in a Chantilly shopping center late Monday or early Tuesday. A Marine Corps recruiter found two bullet holes in the office's windows at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, although a Marine Corps official said the office has been closed for renovations.

1. After 2 it is beyond coincidence. It gets scary then.
So what would motivate someone to target the Pentagon, the Marines Museum, and possibly a Marine recruiting station? Next thought is when will they go after people instead of buildings?

2. Why would anyone DOOOOO such a thing? sarcasm
I really believe that the war is radicalizing people, especially soldiers returning from the most evil and corrupt war ever fought in the name of (corporate) liberty.
I would not be the least bit surprised if we see a rise in anti-USG actions. The morals that promote war are hardly sufficient to ease the troubled minds and hearts of those who did the killing. In this war, MANY innocent people were killed by US soldiers. Normally, these soldiers would be able to hide their murderous guilt by justifying the murders as defense of nation. But the true character of this war is evident, more so with the heroic efforts of Wikileaks and Mr. Assange. A "good" person will not sit with these feelings of disgust and betrayal. A 'good" person will be forced, by conscience, to atone for their crimes, or to seek out some form of justice.

Too many men have killed too many innocent people under the color of duty. These soldiers feel like war criminals...and who do you think they will blame?

Non Serviam.

3. Or it could be just a violent nut . . .
It all depends on how you look at it. Often when people commit acts of violence like this they have elaborate justifications for them. Even if it turns out that you are correct and that this is somebody angry about the wars, that doesn't really say much about the US government or its policies -- it says much more about the violent nature of the person who committed the acts (granted, nobody's been hurt yet, so I guess it doesn't quite qualify as 'violent' but you get my point). Plenty of people oppose the US policies yet don't feel a need or desire to shoot things because of it. Civil disobedience -- that's how 'good' people deal with their 'feelings of disgust and betrayal.'

4. You are saying it was a military member who shot up
these places because they committed war crimes?

Just a bit of twisted logic there.
