Dodges, decoys flummox those seeking Sharron
Source: Washington Post

LAS VEGAS -- Sipping beers and sporting Sharron Angle t-shirts, Republican partisans mingled with the happy hour crowd at Shari's rock n' roll diner one recent evening and waited to cheer their candidate.

Waited and waited and then waited some more, it turned out, before it became evident that the 61-year-old Republican who threatens to send Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid into retirement was a no-show.

It wasn't the first time in the final stretch of a close and unpredictable Senate race. Since a debate two weeks ago - the only one Angle would agree to - public appearances by the gaffe-prone former state lawmaker have become as common as a desert waterfall and her interaction with the media virtually nonexistent.

* * *
Angle has avoided public events. And when she has ventured out for a handful of closed-door appearances, she has refused to answer questions from the media. She dodged reporters at a Fernley Republican Women meeting on Oct. 19.

5. Interesting article
It details Angle's will-o-the-wisp campaigning, and draws parallels to other Tea Bagger candidates like Rand Paul and Christine O'Donnell, but the article doesn't reach a conclusion about how this hurts the political process. Too editorial, I guess, though the Post doesn't appear to shy away from editorializing against Democrats in news stories.

Anyway, with a room full of "Republican partisans" waiting for Godot Angle, the reporter failed to ask even one of them if he was disappointed that the candidate never quite made it to their rally. I wonder how Angle's no-shows affect her image with the supporters she stands up? One thing's for sure: The Washington Post won't tell you.

6. Gosh if she acts like this now what makes anyone think when she goes to
Washington that she will answer questions then?

8. this has "expert handlers" written all over it....
They've realized that she has peaked too early, and that any further appearance is more likely to hurt her than to help her. If Reid has any big campaign strategy left to pull from his sleeve, now sounds like a good time to do it. She'll take a lot of punishment whether she comes out of hiding, or not.

10. The teabagging idiot candidates are better off hiding
and letting hate radio and Big Media lie, slander, and hate their way to victory

11. Do her prospective voters think the hiding will stop if she's elected?
Can they imagine her not speaking at meetings? Avoiding interviews? Sheesh. Running scared from the press doesn't seem consistent with the ass-kicking persona Tea Klanners want to present.
