Chrysler to Invest $600 Million in Illinois Plant

DETROIT—Chrysler Group LLC will spend $600 million to upgrade production at its Illinois assembly plant, bringing the auto maker's total announced U.S. investment to $2.1 billion since its exit from bankruptcy court last year.

The company will use the funds to build a body shop and install new machines at the Belvidere assembly plant to support the production of future models in 2012. The plant is home to the Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot and Dodge Caliber.

3. the most efficient auto assembly plant in north america.

over 3 billion dollars has been invested in this plant since Daimler /Mercedes Benz bought the plant.

good news for the union workers around here. my iron worker friend worked there and gm`s janesville plant every spring and summer for years.


a japanese railcar company is building a new plant just down the road this spring.lots of union construction and 300 permanent jobs for rochelle il

4. I wonder if they will offer jobs there to the
Kenosha workers, where they just closed the plant? When there was a big layoff a while ago, many of the Kenosha workers did go out to the Belvedere plant then, so I wonder if that is an option now...
