Lee Fisher, Ohio Senate Candidate, Donates Last Dollars To State Democratic Party
Edited on Thu Oct-28-10 06:23 PM by onehandle
Source: Huffington Post

Ohio Democratic Senate candidate Lee Fisher is battling accusations that he has given up on his campaign after following news that he donated the last of his diminished war chest to the Ohio Democratic Party.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports on Fisher's contribution: He has given $100,000 to the Ohio Democratic Party for its final, aggressive get-out-the-vote drive. This is according to Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, but the Fisher campaign confirms the donation and says it indeed came from Fisher's campaign account.

Fisher told the Plain Dealer that the move is not a surrender -- it's his best chance at winning. Sen. Brown commended the action as a selfless move that would also help bolster the Democratic campaigns of the state's more competitive races, but the rhetoric he used has some wondering if Fisher hasn't already accepted defeat.

"Few times in the course of a rigorous, frenetic and difficult campaign do candidates step up and do something spectacular -- and unselfish," Brown said in an e-mail to supporters. "Lee Fisher just did."

1. Good for him!
I respect that so much.

This generous gesture shows you just where his heart really is, and what kind of Senator he would have made...

Maybe people will remember........next time.

Recommended.

7. Hey California Peggy!
Take it from this Ohiogirl.......Fisher lost the day before he was chosen by the Ohio Goodoleboydemparty. He can't win in Ohio and we lost a great senator in Brunner because of this crap. I intend to do a write in for senator..........not even for the good of the country can I vote for Loser Lee.
We could have had two great Dems from Ohio...........now we will get sell-out Portman. He will be another just say no....except when it benefits him personally.

5. Absolutely
I sense Fisher called in his favors to secure the Primary win against Brunner...who indeed could beat the snotty Portman....It's healthy Karma to donate the money.....

3. Very admirable
Smart choice, that's a lot of money to go straight to GOTV efforts that could make a lot of difference in a lot of different races.

4. Lee Fisher is getting the ass kicking he deserved for what he has done.
Bad enough to get beat in Ohio by the man who helped to outsource thousands of job
as head of trade under W, Rob Portman, but for the things Fisher has done to his
fellow democrats and the state party over the past 20 years a little chip in to the ODP
does not absolve him for his sins.

9. doesn't matter
Lee has been the turd in the punch bowl to Ohio Dems for 20 + years.

The money does not cover up what he has done.

Look up the prosecution of Tom FERGUSON v the State of Ohio.

8. Well, it would've been easier if my homestate would've
went for Jennifer Bruner in the primary. She was the Progressive candidate and it seemed like the party establishment didn't do ANYTHING TO help her.
