Residents flee Larimer wildfire as gusts spread 3,500-acre blaze

FIRE UPDATE: The weather may be kinder to firefighters today, as they continue to battle the Picnic Rock wildfire.

Approximately 300 firefighters will be at work along with aircraft support. At a briefing this morning, there was some good news. While the fire has grown to an estimated 6,000 acres, crews hope to have it 30 percent contained by the end of the day. They said winds are helping to blow the fire back on itself. Also residents were told that Highway 14 has re-opened.
