9/11 kin: W butting in - Say panel pressured Clarke
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/179888p-156261c.html

Families of 9/11 victims were critical yesterday of what appeared to be White House efforts to coach members of a panel questioning a Bush-bashing whistleblower.

White House counsel Alberto Gonzales telephoned at least one and possibly two Republicans on the panel hours before a hearing where they sharply questioned former counterterror guru Richard Clarke.

Clarke had infuriated the White House by accusing Bush in a new book of downgrading the anti-terror effort and being eager to use the terror attacks to go after Iraq instead of Al Qaeda.

The Family Steering Committee, which represents many of the 9/11 families, called on the White House to explain the calls.

"These ex-parte communications raise serious concerns regarding the impartiality of these commissioners, and questions about whether the commission has been sidetracked from its mandate to focus on the facts and circumstances of 9/11," the families said in a statement.

12.  WOW!!! Thanks, calimary!!!
Of course I am being very vocal in my own community. I just love it when I run into a devoted right winger idiot who thinks that alan colmes is the typical Democrat . I get some severe jollies when I see the look on their faces when they realize that I will not just fold up my tent when they snarl. Worse for then still, when they realize that I am just as ferocious in my views as they, but I also have facts to back me up!

The funny thing is that most right wingers try to pass off bush's criminal B.S. with "Democrats did that, too". I always stop them dead in their tracks with 2 simple words. Name one!

2. This panel is a joke
What's Thomas Kean doing Chairing this committee is even a bigger joke.
Lehman, Thompson and that air head Slade (blinky)Gorton is the biggest joke of all.

Thursday will be an interesting day to say the least. Most crooks usually screw up by over playing the hand. This won't be an exception.

The clowns are trying to take over the circus with that idiot, Alberto Gonzales, screaming out commands to his panel buddies. But the Ring Master (Richard A. Clarke) is cracking the whip and have these moran's on the tips of their toes, in fear that, they may be the chosen one that the whip will find to taste a piece of their butt. `Oh, what a circus it is.

5. They shouldn't have to ASK..
Kerry should actually USE that as part of his campaign promise.. It needs a TRULY INDEPENDENT commission.. One that has researchers, air traffic controllers, and yes, even a family MEMBER would be warranted..

7. Remember, the families wanted McCain and Rudman on the Commission
and Bush said no.

I wouldn't doubt that Kerry would put together a new commission.

8. Peaceful Tomorrows
September 11th families are the enemies of the Bush administration. This week's Nation has a good story on how the attack machine went after Peaceful Tomorrows following the outburst of indignation when Bush used pictures from the WTC in his ads.

David Potorti, co-founder of the group, is a friend of mine. He was genuinely frightened by the messages and threats he received during the days after Rush and the Wall Street Journal spewed their lies.
