WikiLeaks website, pummeled by attacks, loses home
Source: Rawstory

Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman released a statement Wednesday saying that Amazon.com told him that it had terminated its relationship with a WikiLeaks website that hosted secret US diplomatic cables.

Talking Points Memo obtained a copy of the full statement:

This morning Amazon informed my staff that it has ceased to host the Wikileaks website. I wish that Amazon had taken this action earlier based on Wikileaks' previous publication of classified material. The company's decision to cut off Wikileaks now is the right decision and should set the standard for other companies Wikileaks is using to distribute its illegally seized material. I call on any other company or organization that is hosting Wikileaks to immediately terminate its relationship with them. Wikileaks' illegal, outrageous, and reckless acts have compromised our national security and put lives at risk around the world. No responsible company - whether American or foreign - should assist Wikileaks in its efforts to disseminate these stolen materials. I will be asking Amazon about the extent of its relationship with Wikileaks and what it and other web service providers will do in the future to ensure that their services are not used to distribute stolen, classified information.

Just tuned in to "Mini Health Insurance Policies" ...

guy thought he had a $20,000policy for health care --

turned out he found out he had cancer and only $2,000 coverage all at one time!!

Evidently, his $20,000 coverage was spread over 5 categories ...

This is a type of insurance hadn't heard of before ....

Think the Rangel vote is coming up soon --

:)

4. This will make ZERO difference
except I shall remember this the next time I'm tempted to purchase anything from Amazon...

There are 1000 hosting sites in the world that would be more than happy to take up the slack...

Why do you seem so happy that another avenue of truth has been shut off?

(Anyway, Amazon probably only did it for the money. The USAmerican Empire's DOS attacks were pulling down their server's access... Corporations HAVE NO MORALITY or VALUES other than making money)...

7. Typical LIEberman
Grandstanding as usual and trying to take credit for Amazon dropping Wikileaks.
Wikileaks is doing nothing illegal. The information was given to them, not 'seized', and releasing it serves the public intrest.
He continues to perpetrate the l8ie that this has harmed 'national security' and put lives at risk.
He is just parroting the RW talking points as usual.

35. Viral? Yes and no.
The cables *released* so far are mirrored, but that's only a few hundred out of the 260,000-270,000 that exist.

19. Amazon stops hosting WikiLeaks site, says U.S. lawmaker
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 02:54 PM by PeaceNikki
Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc has stopped hosting WikiLeaks' website, which posted thousands of classified U.S. government documents this week, U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman said on Wednesday.

The move comes after Lieberman's staff made inquiries to Amazon on Tuesday as reports surfaced that WikiLeaks had asked Amazon to host its website on the Amazon servers after hackers targeted the WikiLeaks site.

A representative for Amazon was not immediately available for comment.
