Tampa radio host offers 50K to the tipster that leads to Wikileak's Julian Assange
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 01:36 PM by Turborama
Source: ABC

TAMPA - Tampa syndicated talk show host Todd Schnitt is making international waves after placing a $50,000 bounty on the head of Julian Assange, the man behind the controversial Wikileaks website.

Wikileaks has come under fire by many leaders, including U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, for publicizing sensitive government information that some believe may put U.S. soldiers in danger. The site recently published 251,287 leaked United States Embassy cables, reportedly the largest set of confidential documents ever to be released into the public domain.

Schnitt refers to 39-year-old Assange as a menace and has said, “Assange is a terrorist, an enemy combatant, and needs to be treated as such,” several times on his program, which airs from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

=snip=

Schnitt has announced that anyone with credible information that could lead the federal or international authorities to the capture Assange is eligible for the reward.

Strangely, the ABC link didn't work when added to the OP (see below), hence having to add a link to Google News which takes you there.

6. I hope someone takes him up on it.
It's my understanding Assange is not REALLY hiding. Maybe Assange's mom can cash in and cost the radio douche-bag 50k. She can call in his whereabouts the day Assange meets authorities for questioning.

12. Thanks for pointing it out. I have added a link that takes you to a search result on Google News
I wouldn't have known unless you'd mentioned it.

Which \ needs replacing? I can't see one...

Posting it here with spaces...

16. .
I clicked your original link (containing wikileak\'s-julian), my browser went to the indicated web site and reported a page-not-found error. I tracked down the article on their web site; the URL in my browser toolbar was the same as yours, except that the backslash omitted. By copy-pasting their URL from my browser to somewhere else, I saw that the apostrophe was replaced by %27. That's when I mentioned it, hoping to help out others. Sorry if I sounded accusatory; that was not my intention. :hi:

So bottom line, I guess, is that it's simply a difference in how our web browsers and/or operating systems appear to be handling the URLs. Good to know!

8. Question - did Assange break any US laws?
That is, had he been in the US publishing the recent wikileaks, would he have violated US law?

Anyone know the answer? I'm looking for legal facts, not opinions or speculation.

Thanks.

13. He should have to prove he has that kind of cash or else it`s fraud.
And syndicated should make it some sort of across state lines or the like.

14. Right-wing radio hosts are terrified that their listeners will discover
that the hosts have been lying and covering up stuff all these years. This could get interesting.

The whole Wikileaks thing, in my opinion, is not so much and indictment of our government as of our press. There is almost nothing that the Wikileaks have published that an old-fashioned, intrepid news reporter could not have nosed out through other means -- and printed.

That is why the conservatives in the news media are upset.

Thus far, the kinds of secrets exposed by Wikileaks should have been exposed by the press. Thus far, I haven't seen any secret, secret agent stuff that was legal and could not have been legally discovered and published in a decent newspaper.

Wikileaks would not exist and would not have aroused our curiosity, had it not been for our sold-out, ineffective, lying news media.
