Republican's first decision: new female lavatories
The new Republican leadership in the House of Representatives has made its first significant mark in Washington by ordering the construction of a new women's lavatory just off the House chamber.

By Alex Spillius, Washington 6:39PM GMT 02 Dec 2010

The decision by John Boehner, the Speaker-designate, means female members of congress will no longer have to make a two-minute trek across the fabled Statuary Hall to the congressional women's reading room if they need to relieve themselves during debates.

Men have always enjoyed the use of a lavatory adjacent to the chamber, while women in the Senate have shared the same privilege since 1993.

"As we continue to evaluate ways to open up the people's House, it's encouraging to be able to make changes like this that are long overdue," said Mr Boehner.

2. I can't believe I"m actually agreeing with them! Shame on all the previous
congresses for not rectifying this all these years.

Give credit where credit is due, and I'm sure this will be the last time.

3. Good for them and shame on the Democrats for not doing it.
I find it puzzling that I agree with the Republicans on their first "significant" decsion.

I hope all their other decisions are one I can support.

16. Compromise.
Trade equal pay and reproductive freedom for a toilet? It's just awful enough to be plausible.

19. GOP probably would have shut it down if the Dems had tried.
Now they're happy to take credit for it.

5. Well, good on Boehner!
Now, if he and the rest of the Republicans will do something so that the rest of America can afford a pot to piss in.

6. Strom Thurmond once had a screen and a bucket set up in the
Senate Chamber so he did not leave the floor during his filibuster during the Civil Rights legislation process. I'm just glad that they don't have a "piss boy"...

I don't disagree with this in the slightest, but it is pretty funny that one of the first things repigs did is ... more spending.

22. those tight-assed....
....constipated, dried-out republican hags can easily 'make a two-minute trek across the fabled Statuary Hall' to relieve themselves....a two week 'trek' wouldn't be unreasonable....

....as for our fine female Dem Representatives, they could always shit and piss on boners' desk in an emergency....

....I strongly object to my hard-earned tax dollars being wasted on such frivolous undertakings....
