Afghan president doubts leaked US cables are real
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 07:32 AM by Turborama
Source: The Australian

AFGHANISTAN president Hamid Karzai said he doubted that US diplomatic cables leaked by the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks were real.

In one leaked cable, US diplomats said one of Karzai's deputies transported $52 million out of the country in suitcases, but the president said American officials kept a close watch on claims of corruption.

"If this was true ... the American government has been talking to us every day about corruption. Every day, they come and give us examples, every day they come and bring even a (corruption) case of $5,000," he said at a news conference with visiting Pakistani prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

"How come they did not report to the president about $52 million?

"So we don't know what to do with this whole thing. Do we believe them, do we not believe them? And I would go towards not to believing them," he said, referring to the leaked cables.

3. Says the CIA Appointed Puppet President
U.S. President Barack Obama says Afghanistan's elections appear to have been successful, despite attempts by the Taliban to disrupt them with violence. He made the comment in a U.S. radio interview Thursday with host Michael Smerconish on Philadelphia's WPHT. Mr. Obama also promised the U.S. military will keep up the pressure on insurgents in Afghanistan to drive them out of their safe havens.

4. When they redact names you'll never know, it's all digital
Wikileaks Redactions Are Cowardly

Wikileaks should stop the redactions of names in the diplomatic cables and war files and release untampered documents.

Name redactions are immensely deceptive -- like knee-jerk claiming there are valid grounds for some vital secrets -- they are used to hold hostages under guise of protection. Continue to obey or your name will be revealed. Redact or you will be pilloried in public. (Toot: The New York Times tried the "responsible redaction" scam on Cryptome with the CIA Mossadeq overthrow report.)

Dozens, perhaps hundreds of people are being put at risk by believing they are protected by the phony redaction scam Wikileaks has cowardly joined under pressure to conform to authoritative demands to be "responsible." Far better to tell the truth that the names are already loose so the victims know what the cabal of secretkeepers knows.
