Rebels kill 17 in Nepal
Kathmandu - At least nine policemen and eight Maoists were killed in an overnight attack by rebels on a police post in southeastern Nepal, near the Indian border.

The attack took place around midnight at Jadukhola in Dhanusha district, a police spokesperson said on Monday.

Seven policemen were injured, while 19 are missing from the 35-member police post, he said.

2. Unfortunately this can't be pinned on Bush ...
... the Maoist rebels (Communist Party of Nepal) in Nepal have been at it for quite some time, since 1996. Their goal is to abolish the monarchy. Actually I've heard that they are quite nice to tourists, according to a friend that recently visited near Nepal. According to my friend, they are perhaps the only terrorist group that will actually write you an IOU if you hand over some bucks to them.

Trekkers drawn to Nepal rebels

4. U.S. Military Aid to Nepal
It's not that much of a stretch to blame the Repugthugs for this. Powell just handed over $70,000,000 to the dictatorship there, not to mention the extremely strange circumstances surrounding the king's assasination and usurping of power by the present autocrat. The Kingdom of Nepal is another paradise lost and the slime running the U.S. gov't has got it's fingerprints all over this. It's just a nifty way to stick a thorn into the Chinese backside anyway.

3. With blood or not, feudalism will end in Nepal.
There is slavery and cruel oppression in Nepal. I can perfectly understand why that insurgency is so strong and compelling to the people of Nepal. It would be interesting if it achieved victory.
