Clinton: Saudi Arabia funding terror
Source: ynet news

Principal American ally described in diplomatic cables revealed by WikiLeaks as source of terror funding

WASHINGTON – Even US allies in the Arab world continue to fund terror organizations, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed in a cable posted Monday by WikiLeaks.

The document, written last December, said that citizens in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE are the main funders of various organizations including al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Hamas, Lashkar e-Taiba and others.

Saudi Arabia, a principal US ally on both military and diplomatic levels, is presented in the cables as a particularly troubling problem. A cable from February this year said Saudi funding of terrorists remains a serious problem, and that Saudi Arabia does little to prevent such activity, relying mainly on tips from the CIA.

In a memo, Clinton notes that terror groups raise millions of dollars each year from Saudi sources, often during the hajj pilgrimage and the month of Ramadan. It is an ongoing challenge to persuade the authorities to make prevention of such activity a top priority, Clinton wrote. She added that Saudi contributors were the main source of funding for terror groups around the world.

1. I think this is one of the most important bits of information
to come out from WikiLeaks.

Saddam was the one who was supposed to be funding terror groups - so he was taken out. But because of Bush connections to Saudi Arabia, nothing will be done about them.

11. Bush/Chenney ,Corperations & $$$$$
There it is all rolled up for you in one bag ! Iam sure its more complex then I put it however basicially haliburton and the oil companies all have special interst in that entire region and their loyalty to this country runs shallow compared to their lust and greed for the almighty dollare. Whats up with these people who already have millions of dollares still wanting more and more at any cost including that of inocent lives being lost ! It sickens me to the core and Iam sure when death comes for them they will fall into hell faster then you can say the word.
IMHO,NikRik

37.  don't forget Iran
Has always been well up on the wingnut neocons list and the subject of the muttering of war drums.W. probably couldn't touch Saudi Arabia as the Bush clan might have owed them money from the times they bailed Shrub out of one of his business failures.

8. Mrs Clinton (hand up waving eagerly with a question)
Can you explain why we started wars in 2 countries other than Saudi Arabia when the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia?

Can you explain why the US continues to sell advanced weaponry to what is obviously a terrorist state and has funded terrorists for decades?

Can you explain why the war on terror targets nearly every country in the middle east except for Saudi Arabia, a known terrorist supporting country?

I'll take your answers off the air, thanks for listening.

12. Saudi Arabia is 'biggest funder of terrorists'
Source: Independent/

Saudi Arabia is the single biggest contributor to the funding of Islamic extremism and is unwilling to cut off the money supply, according to a leaked note from Hillary Clinton.

The US Secretary of State says in a secret memorandum that donors in the kingdom still "constitute the most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide" and that "it has been an ongoing challenge to persuade Saudi officials to treat terrorist financing emanating from Saudi Arabia as a strategic priority".

...and 2 from the UAE.

So 17 of the 19 attackers were from a country who were either friends and business partners of the Bush Family or connected to Cheney's Halliburton.

That's 89%.

But we attacked Iraq instead. :eyes:

18. Which may explain why the US media is not reporting on this.
Just foreign sources, as far as I've been able to research (except for blogs).

It's like they just can't say anything about it.

35. MSM has been pathetic, with NYT at the top of the list
they sat on stories, they replayed, word for word, propaganda from the Bush WH, they kept liars and cheats on staff with no fact checking, they had war promoters on staff, and they refused to do important journalism on Patriot, Iraq contractor frauds, and more.

26. Sometimes, I think being a member of the right-wing is like membership in a cult
The authorities which you recognize can say and do whatever they want, and if they say it's okay, it's okay. If it's criminal or otherwise illegal, it's "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil."

27. Maybe that's why Bush had the deer-in-the-headlights-stare on 9/11.
He thought they were best friends.

So what did our government do to the Saudis to bring on the 9/11 attack?

I never could figure out why we haven't been attacked since. I never believed that they couldn't do it here if they wanted to. We may catch some terrorists who are working alone, or with a smaller group.

Were the Saudis telling us on 9/11 not to forget who's in charge?

Just my questions and thoughts.

38. The neo-feudalist extremists won't even allow Jewish services on their sand, er, soil
so when our troops were based over there preparing to liberate Kuwait, we actually had to chopper our Jewish servicemembers out to a ship in the Persian Gulf. No joke.

With allies like that, who needs enemies?
