EXCLUSIVE by Kieran Campbell | 8th December 2010

THE mother of WikiLeaks creator Julian Assange says she is worried he will not get a fair trial following his arrest in London overnight.

In an exclusive interview with the Sunshine Coast Daily, Christine Assange said she was worried about political interference in the legal action against her son.

Mr Assange was arrested for alleged sexual assaults in Sweden.

“There is no fair play here,” Mrs Assange told The Daily from her home near Noosa on the Coast.

“My son has come forward of his own free will to face the charges against him and they have put him in the ring with his hands tied behind his back.”

1. Of course he won't get a fair trial
I mean, seriously - when was the last time an international arrest warrant was put out for not using a condom? Obviously they will make up any rules they damn please in order to achieve the objective of silencing him.

3. Do we really know that or is it only the media which is claiming the charge is rape

From here

Even after having read and listened to half-a-dozen explanations of the alleged "sex crimes" that resulted in an international manhunt for Julian Assange, we're still confused about what he's being accused of.

First it was rape. Then it was molestation. Now, it seems, it's rape again, except that everyone agrees the sex was consensual, which seems to undermine an essential premise of rape.

And then there's this bit about the broken condom and the women who, after the fact, wanted the promiscuous and footloose Assange tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

In any event, we received a note from a Swedish reader this morning. The reader, Johan Lindberg, posits that it WAS rape because one of the women did not agree to have sex without a condom. Which means, we guess, that what happened between Assange and the woman started out as "sex" and became "rape" when the condom broke.

Don't use a condom in Sweden just in case it breaks and you're accused of rape?

5. I guess the press could be wrong about this, but I doubt it
From CSM:

"The British Press Association reports that Mr. Assange is expected to appear in court Tuesday after being arrested by Scotland Yard's extradition unit at 9:30 a.m., according to a Metropolitan Police spokesman. The spokesman said that Assange voluntarily came to the London police station, where he was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant from Swedish authorities for "one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape, all alleged to have been committed in August 2010." The Press Association noted that the Metropolitan Police received an arrest warrant last month on the same charges, but the warrant was invalid because it was not properly filled out."

6. In Sweden a broken condom is rape, in the rest of the world it is not

Almost everywhere on the planet a broken condom is not included in the definition of rape. By shouting rape without disclosing the broken condom detail the media is misleading the public.

7. Not anything that you or I or 99% of the rest of the world would deem such
He's accused of having sex with someone who post-facto withdrew consent. Such a law would be unconstitutional here in the USA under the ex-post-facto provision - a non-crime cannot be made into a crime after the fact.

The woman also happens to be connected to a CIA operative...
