Tax-Cut Proposal Could Move Quickly In Senate: Reid
Source: CNBC/Reuters

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid Wednesday said the Obama-Republican proposal to extend all Bush-era tax cuts could move quickly in the Senate.

"It's further along than most people think," Reid said. "I don't think there is a great more to be done on that."

His remarks were in contrast to his characterization on Tuesday to reporters that the tax proposal was "only a framework" that required more work.

President Obama on Monday unveiled a plan to extend all individual tax cuts expiring at year end, in addition to renewal of jobless benefits, a payroll tax credit and other measures.

While drawing mostly praise from Republicans, the mammoth proposal has angered many of Obama's fellow Democrats who believe the president gave up too much and got too little in return.

4. That means he has the votes for other things lined up
The Republicans are so excited about permanently grandfathering Ronald Reagan's economic policies that they will punt on DADT and START. They obviously think this deal puts them in a strong position for 2012, when they can formalize things for good.

Things get better economically, and they will point to, drum roll, tax cuts. That's their brand and they're sticking to it.

Is anyone really surprised? I had hoped more Dems would be brave but looks like that is a pipe dream as usual. Should have known. Call me cynical but I have always believed the following: That virtually all politicians have the capacity to be bought and to do what ever they have to, to retain their own finanical and power status.

The only thing is the Democrats used to at least try to give back a little something to the populace in return if only to keep up the smoke screen that they actually cared for this country and the people they served. Now it seems like there's so little effort to even keep up the pretense anymore. "We the people" have become irrealevant to the process even more so. I am sorry if this offends anybody but it is honestly how I feel. I am beginging to loose all faith. There seems no where and no one to turn to.
