Unhappy Democrats say tax bill likely to pass
Source: AP

WASHINGTON – Slowly, painfully and reluctantly, congressional Democrats are slogging their way toward acceptance of President Barack Obama's tax cut compromise, which would let rich and poor Americans keep Bush-era tax cuts that were scheduled to expire this month.

After Obama publicly defended the plan for a third day Wednesday, and Vice President Joe Biden met with Democratic lawmakers in the Capitol for a second day, several Democrats predicted the measure will pass, mainly because of extensive Republican support.

Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., predicted the tax cut compromise "will be passed by virtually all the Republicans and a minority of Democrats." He said he would vote against it.

Even among Democrats, "there's more support in the caucus than there appears," Rep. Gerald Connolly of Virginia told reporters after he and fellow Democrats met with Biden. "I think some people felt they had to vent."

1. And who wants to bet
that when and if the economy and/or job market picks up, the tax cuts will be given 100% credit for making that happen. Not any of the stimulus, not the unemployment extension, not any of it.

It will all be the result of the glorious, glorious tax cuts.

And "we" handed it to them on a silver platter.

Once again we've set the liberal cause and the factual positive impact of liberal policies back decades.

3. Why?
Are they drinking Kool-ade?
Is someone holding a gun to their heads?
Does the CIA have files on them?

Why the hell don't they just stand up and act like adults instead of scared little toddlers?

7. and goodbye social security
since this deal does an end run around it and cuts the income for it. See various articles at the Huffington Post that go into detail.

11. This is the most important thing. If this passes it will begin the
defunding of Social Security and the end of the Democratic Party. If we don't take to the streets on this, we all deserve to be sleeping in the dumpsters those who lose their Social Security will be sleeping in.

8. Sent this to Sen Kerry's office (He supports the "deal")...
Sent to Sen Kerry office, in addition to phoning (I know, 'how quaint')

Dear Sen. Kerry,
I urge you to vote against the awful tax compromise "deal" put forward by Pres. Obama. It would be a shameful giveaway to the rich and a laughable "deal" with the Republicans. I was a tireless volunteer for Obama's campaign and a long time supporter of you. I actually heard you speak at several Winter Soldier rallies in the distant past and have always respected your strong stands on behalf of the military. However, on this issue we part ways. If you support this cowardly tax deal - that burdens our kids and grandkids, and enriches Chinese banks, - then you will have my support no longer. This is too important an issue to NOT take the correct moral stand. You claim it will hurt the average American family. Well, the average American family is against this "deal" and willing to take the pain. You will be on the wrong side of history if you vote today as you've told us you will. I beg you to reconsider. Our ideals, our country, our future are at stake. Oh yes, and so is my support for you as a candidate for reelection.
Thanks for your service to this country,
but farewell,
**** ***** (MA - 7th District)

9. Of course it will pass...
There are no Democrats strong enough to actually stand up to President Obama. The minute he signed on to this, the "deal" with Republicans was destined to pass. Everyone connected in Washington knew this was coming since the November elections.

As I've said before, ALL of this we are seeing now is theater. It's all a show. Everyone knows the result would be that the tax cut "deal" will become law.

Oh there will be shouting and moaning, but it won't make a whit of difference in the end.

as a win. I am sorry I don't view it that way. I don't believe that money will ever be paid back to SS. Like I would buy any politicians word on either side at this moment. Plus even if there were Dems with a smidgen of conscience still left, the Pukes are going to be controlling the purse strings for a long time to come now. There is a snowballs chance in hell of them ever writing that check. Citizens will be waiting for it in the proverbial mail, till our granchildrens', grandchildren are lying in their graves.

Sickning. :puke:  :scared:

14. Exactly. This is the approximate end of the Democratic Party. As I have
told others: Look at your year-end social security statement this year. Make a note of your proposed retirement income figure. Then when you get your year-end 2011 statement, look at the proposed income figure. If it is is less, the fund was not paid back. For those in their fifties the statement differences should be reasonably large as they have have more year for the reduced tax amounts to accrue. When this all comes out and people know that social security is being defunded, it will mark the end of the Democrat Party and Obama will be remembered in infamy as Republican after Republican administration moves the US toward end of days.

13. bottom line, the "Bush tax cuts" will be made PERMANENT in 2012..........
....Obama and his people have to know this. Instead of "hope & change" we got a big fucking "bait & switch". He will not get my vote in 2012.
