Source: Washington Post

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Elizabeth Edwards' older daughter will give one of the eulogies at her public memorial service.

Details of the funeral provided Thursday show that Cate Edwards will offer her memories along with two of her mother's longtime friends: Hargrave McElroy and Glenn Bergenfield. John Edwards is not scheduled to speak.

A service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh.

1. We will miss you, Elizabeth.
Her daughter is brave to take on giving her mother's eulogy.

3. Sigh
I hope John will be there

Not because he deserves to, and not because he's entitled to

But because its the kind of forgiveness that marked Elizabeth - and it would be in keeping with who she was

And, it would be just like her to offer her wayward husband one last path to salvation

Atheistly speakin' course

her husband's infidelity. I'm sure she never forgave him, and that she appreciated all the sob sister threads here on DU. I'm sure that she would approve of your careless remark, because I'm sure she loved having everyone's nose in her business.

Do I need a sarcasm icon here?

edit - type

5. She did forgive him. That's the point.
The point is that she did something many of us would never do - all because of her ethical heart

Granted, she didn't take him back - and she shouldn't have

You have to understand - someone like me sees that and I am amazed, that she can put away that rage - that well deserved rage, for good to conquer.

Normal people don't do stuff like that.

8. She did it for the kids.
Because after she was gone, their father was the only parent they had left. Attacking John after the kids have just lost their mother and are struggling to survive such a horrible blow... Why do I even need to point this out?

9. I don't think that was the only reason
Although, yes, John is the only parent the kids have left

But she also has a morality and ethics that just aren't common in the world of politics

That's all I'm trying to say

I am sorry I pissed you off trying to say it

14. Perhaps you are a member of the Edwards family and know for sure how Elizabeth felt.
None of us here know the status of John and Elizabeth's relationship at the time of her passing.

IMHO, poster #3 was just trying to express respect for her.

If you do not like the sob sister threads here on DU, then you don't have to click onto them. People are just trying to express their sympathy.

10. I wish I believed in hell, so I could be at peace knowing that they would burn
there. Unfortunately, I believe there is no life after death for anyone, so watching evil people like that just tears me up.

7. What a brave daughter.
My sister and I could hardly speak so thankfully no one asked us to say anything at our mother's funeral. Her husband and a number of friends did a great job, however. My guess is that her daughter has probably inherited and learned a great deal of grace and fortitude from her sweet mother.
