Kennedy Assails Bush on Domestic Policies
By Lolita C. Baldor
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - After months of attacking President Bush's policy on Iraq, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy turned his focus to domestic issues, saying the administration has misled the public about the economy, health care and education.

"As a result, this president has now created the largest credibility gap since Richard Nixon," Kennedy said in a speech Monday at the Brookings Institution, a think tank. "He has broken the basic bond of trust with the American people." <snip>

The senator said the government has cut unemployment benefits, failed to pay for education overhaul and is spending $134 billion more than expected on a Medicare plan.

<snip>"Saying whatever it takes to prevail has become standard operating procedure in the Bush White House," said Kennedy. "In this administration, truth is the first casualty of policy."

8. ENRON ECONOMICS - the perfect moniker!
This great soundbyte/bumpersticker phrase was handed to us on a platter by an audience member, to point out parallels between the W. Administration's scandalous domestic behavior and the recent corporate scandals.

This one is at least as good as "VOODOO ECONOMICS", don't you think?

Were any Democratic higher-ups listening & taking notes?? Put it to good use, DLC!

(My first post, BTW)

14. Outstanding!
Relentless and stinging with truth. Too bad it was only on C-SPAN as far as I could tell.

Mitch McConnell did a nasty response on the senate floor, chiding Kennedy on criticizing the "president" when we have soldiers fighting in Iraq...how it aids our enemies. :puke:

16. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao is Senator Mitch McConnell's wife
Ted gave it to her good.

Most American workers are in fear over their jobs. Bush's position on OT pay scares the hell out of them.

Everybody now knows someone whose lifestyle has been negatively stimulated by these bandits.

Ever notice how so many in Republican families suckle at the teats of the ever evil government?

18. Croney Capitalism - Like Marcos or Harding...(or Saddam)
Maybe that's why Bush hated Saddam so much. He saw his worst self in him... Naw, Bush is a brain dead frat boy and doesn't think very much at all. He's more like Ronald Reagan, at best an actor, told what to say; at worst, Caligula.
