Wikileaks protests in Spain over Julian Assange arrest

Protests have taken place across Spain calling for the release of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who is facing extradition from the UK to Sweden for alleged sexual offences.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the British embassy in Madrid calling for him to be freed.

While supporters have mounted cyber-protests, Saturday's protests were some of the first street demonstrations in support of Wikileaks.

Wearing Julian Assange face masks, the crowd in Madrid shouted for his freedom, outside the vast glass tower that houses the British embassy, says the BBC's Sarah Rainsford in Madrid.

1. The judge who denied him bail, is supposedly

having second thoughts after being slammed by many of his legal colleagues for holding someone who has not been charged with a crime.

He is said to be asking to see some evidence from the Swedish government before the next bail hearing since none was produced apparently. Just 'allegations'. Shame on him for not knowing that and having to have it pointed out to him.

So far the 'evidence' has been shady and with one of the women supposedly no longer cooperating, this little scheme to hold Assange until the U.S. can find a way to get their hands on him, may fall apart. However I hope he has protection if he is allowed to go free.

I would hate to see him released and then assassinated! And it could happen!

Have you notice how the majority of Europe is totally for the release of those documents and are supporting Wikileaks?
They are used to more "freedom of the press" in Europe, because they have daily access both through newspapers and through television programming to many information from many different sources! Instead of being stuck with their own government "spin," they can always check it by tuning in to 3 or 4 other national TV channels, and therefore there is an automatic "check and balance" of truthfull information. . .especially since a majority of Europeans (especially among the younger Europeans) speak more than one, even more than 2 languages!

We don't even get a direct channel from Canada or from Mexico!
