Source: New York Times

Adm. Mike Mullen says North Korea has raised the ante in its aggression against South Korea.

Mullen told troops on Monday that the old tit for tat pattern with North Korea has changed. He said the North’s provocations are tied to preparations for leader Kim Jong Ill's son to take power.

Not much information here, but here's an article from this morning's Washington Post, as well: South Korean drills draw more threats from North Korea: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/13/AR2010121301402.html

Keep an eye on this situation. It may not amount to much, but could amount to an extraordinarily bad outcome. I believe the North will collapse, and soon, and it won't be pretty.

5. According to Wikileaks, this could have been easily avoided
All they would have had to have done is send Eric Clapton over there to play in 2007 and peace would have been at hand (slow hand).

8. Gee, a new bright shiny war, just in time to detract from the gloomy economic reports coming out.
'Cause as we all know, the 'Merican people can only think about one thing at a time!
and for a very brief time at that.
