Attorney: Bernard Madoff will not attend son's funeral
Source: CNN

New York (CNN) -- Convicted Ponzi-schemer Bernard Madoff will not attend the funeral of his son, Mark, out of consideration for his daughter-in-law and grandchildren, attorney Ira Sorkin said.

Mark Madoff's body was discovered hanging from a ceiling pipe in his Manhattan apartment on Saturday, two years to the day after his father was arrested for swindling $50 billion from investors in the largest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history.

The death of the younger Madoff was ruled a suicide by the New York medical examiner's office after an autopsy on Sunday, spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said.

"He will be conducting a private service on his own where he's presently incarcerated," Sorkin said.

1. If that's how Boner fought the war ...
... I began to wonder what they really had against Madoff. It wasn't just greed and corruption; there was enough of that to go around for everyone.

2. out of consideration for his daughter in law?
I maybe thought it was because he was a convicted criminal serving 150 years...

4. He had the option to 'request' to go
and IF he were to receive approval to go then his family would have to pay for the federal marshals that would have had to have accompanied him. Bernie's wife is blaming him for the son's death, so I am sure he doesn't want to be there where she and others would confront/attack him.

6. Well, she has a point
there is something almost Shakespearean in all of this. The guy who ruined people's lives just got his hit with one hell of a loss of his own and he set the wheels in motion for this to happen with his actions. I have no idea if his son was involved in any of this or not. He was one of the people who turned his father in so maybe not. But his father's actions certainly contributed to his death.

This really is an example of reaping what you sow.

9. He can't go - the attorney is full of bull in saying what he did
Here is the article it states per the handbook, 'Only those inmates who have "community custody" and have "two years or less from their anticipated release date," will be eligible.'

He's got 150-years
