Great, now he'll come home to Colorado and be the new darling of the Right. Probably run for Senate against Udall.

1. Don't think an individual convicted of federal crime can run for a federal office.
Have to see what kind of punishment. He could be fitted for an orange uniform.

Minimum the Right will trot him out as their martyr du jour.

3. Maybe not run for office but perhaps a...
Multi-million $ contract with FOX "News" and another multi-million $ book deal...He knows what he is doing just like Sarah Palin's advisers knew to tell her to quit her job & do for MILLIONS of $...Sarah obviously did not come up with that idea on her own!

7. Well, being an idiot is not an either/or with righties, more of a Venn diagram.
Plus, the birthers still may have a certain nuisance and diversion value.

4. Good, he deserves the punishment
Hope he doesn't weasal his way into staying in the military for few more years and collecting his retirement. He took a stand and now gets to suffer the consequences for that stand. I wonder if he's Glad he took it? I'll bet he never thought this one through, that he could lose the almighty federal retirement after 20 years and go doctor elsewhere. Now hopefully he will get to doctor in prison.

id say 'what a wasted career', but something tells me he didnt want to be in the armed forces anymore anyway and this was easier than saying he was gay.

13. Well, the irony of it all....
is the fact that he STILL has to pay for his college education and training. That will be a part of his restituion.

12. Actually a convicted felon cannot run for Senate
In any case, it would expose his record and stupidity, and we'll be busy laughing at Lakey while giving Udall his 2nd term (as he earned it rightfully)

14. If this guy really believes the birther crap, he should NOT be
allowed to practice medicine. At all. Anywhere. And least of all on people whose lives literally depend on the medical care that they may have to receive in field emergency conditions.
He is simply insane.

15. The Birthers are the true racists, who come out of the woodwork
over Obama's birth, simply because the idea of an intelligent bi-racial man having authority over them is something they cannot stand.

16. Unfortunately, this most likely isn't over.
He had to know that his defense was going to go down in a flaming heap. He may be able to have his case heard by the Supreme Court though it's unlikely that they would take up a case like this. Of course, we currently are under the Robert's Court so they will probably have to wrestle with their support of executive authority and their right leaning convictions.

This blog says that the maximum sentence for the charges he plead guilty to is 18 months in prison. The charge that was dropped was worth two years in prison. I thought the military didn't plea bargain...

18. What is truly disgraceful is he could have been saving lives
instead of performing this stupid stunt. He should have his medical license pulled; he did harm through inaction.

Thats why I won't cheer for imprisonment. To him, it's just free room and boarding.
