Poll: D.C. elites down on Palin
Source: UPI

Published: Dec. 15, 2010 at 12:03 PM

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A huge majority of Washington's insiders say Sarah Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, isn't qualified to be president, a Politico poll indicates.

Eight-six percent of respondents considered members of the political establishment said they don't think Palin is qualified to hold the office, compared to 64 percent of the general public, results of the Politico poll released Wednesday said.

Eleven percent of political establishment respondents in Washington said they believe Palin is qualified to be president, compared to 23 percent of the general public, the survey indicated.

In addition, 79 percent of those classified as Washington elites said they think Palin is a "negative influence in national politics" while 15 percent said they thought she was "a breath of fresh air," Politico said.

10. Sarah Palin is the best self-inflicted political wound of the GOP since Papa Bush left Saddam in
power after the Gulf War.

Before the Gulf War, Papa Bush effectively sold Saddam as a dictator worse than Hitler who must be defeated, but when realpolitik dictated he had to leave Saddam in power after the war or risk a costly, regionally destabilizing occupation, he couldn't couldn't unsell his earlier fairy tale. The public still believed the propaganda and punished Papa Bush at the polls for not finishing off the demon he created in their minds.

Likewise, the GOP has fed the paranoid fantasies and grievances of ignorant white racists and the religious right and even put a president in office who appeared to be one of them, so that now they mistakenly believe that a REAL ignorant redneck really could run the most powerful nation on earth. But that real redneck would have trouble seeing the difference between the rhetorical red meat thrown to salivating lynch mob of the right and the reality of welfare for the wealthy that the GOP quietly does behind the scenes.

Sarah Palin is a golum created by decades of GOP propaganda, and it's hard to see how any trust fund baby like Mitt Romney can beat her or even put her in the backseat like McCain did when he picked her for his VP.

If she ever gets into office, America will be a cross between DELIVERANCE and Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge, but I think all but the hardcore right are smart enough to see that.

13. She won't run, she says,
unless the other candidates lack "common sense" and "pro-Constitution passion". This was on Entertainment Tonight in October, as quoted here.

But she says she's willing to sacrifice in order to serve, if necessary.

And of course she's qualified; she reads ALL of the newspapers. Said so to Couric.

15. Nothing left to see.....she and her family are so overexposed
that I believe Americans are sick of her/them. It's really pathetic watching Palin try and build some credentials - going to Haiti and appearing concerned. Why now? She wants people to see her in a different light, but it's too late. All they see now is Tina Fey mocking her on SNL.
