CNN teams up with Tea Party in debate
Source: LA Times

WASHINGTON--CNN plans to host a Republican presidential primary debate next year with Tea Party Express, a political action committee that featured Sarah Palin at its events and is now raising money for a new advertising campaign against President Obama.

The cable news network announced Friday that it has teamed up with the Sacramento-based organization to co-host a debate in Tampa, the site of the 2012 Republican National Convention, during the first week of September. The event will focus on the economy and the size and scope of government.

CNN political director Sam Feist compared the joint debate to past forums the network has co-hosted with organizations such as the Congressional Black Caucus and Rock the Vote.

"We will be full partners with CNN, jointly making decisions with them about the debate, and we will ensure that this debate reflects tea party principles, and we appreciate the opportunity to have those values represented over the airwaves of CNN," the organization said in an email to supporters. "Folks, we continue to expand our reach, and we couldn't be more thrilled."

4. Wow
This cements the Tea Party as the driving force in the 2012 nomination process (as if it wasn't going to be already).

Actually good news for us Dems...

5. It's about ratings
I heard theirs are terrible, and they are doing worse than the other two cable networks, MSNBC and fox. I used to watch it once in awhile, but it's just gotten so bad lately I don't watch it at all!

19. That is correct... but
once they get tea baggers to come into their "store" how are they going to keep them there and get them to come back? By catering to them. Not like they don't already.

And the masses will still have no idea of the bubble they live in.

6. CNN Teams Up w/ The Koch Brothers
I say bullshit calling it The Tea Party Express, which implies a grass-roots movement.

7. Their ads
Say they are middle of the road, what bullshit. If they legitimize this corporate astro turf "movement" they are right wing. These debates are how the two party duopoly maintains their hold on our psuedo-democracy. We can't spread democracy around the world and not have a real democracy, anyone who believes in imperialism is a damn hypocrite.

11. Why is CNN promoting Fox News?
The Tea Party's mostly a Fox News invention. This is like if CNN promoted an event hosted by Glenn Beck.

14. Glenn Beck's show before Fox News was on CNN Headline news
and any of their massive panel discussions/election coverage always start with Bill Bennett framing the debate and every just responding to him.

CNN has been obvious for a while

17. My take on this is CNN does not like paying taxes!
Since they have a national/international megaphone, they are going to play it at maximum volume. It is worse than a teenage want-a-be guitarist...

18. Some of you who are bashing this might want to rethink it for a moment.
After all this might be a good thing to happen because remember the interviews Palin did helped expose her to the general public as the complete idiot that she is so this might help to crush any chances the nutjob followers of the self proclaimed tea party have at gaining the whitehouse not to mention more seats in the house or senate.

20. I agree
there will be more red meat thrown around at that debate than what you would find in a meat packing plant.

Patriot, Traitor, Lazy welfare bums, Immigrants, Socialists, Socialism, etc..

The Tea Party is nothing but the John Birch society with a new name.
