Biden: U.S. Out by 2014 'Come Hell or High Water'
Source: Fox

WASHINGTON -- Despite uneven progress in Afghanistan, Vice President Joe Biden said next summer's planned withdrawal would be more than a token reduction and that the U.S. would be out of the country by 2014 "come hell or high water."

Biden's prediction appeared to go further than statements by his boss, President Barack Obama, who just last month said there would be a reduced U.S. footprint in Afghanistan by 2014 but that the number of troops that would remain was still in question.

Obama has discussed maintaining a counterterrorism capability in Afghanistan after 2014. As recently as Dec. 16, he said the U.S. and its NATO allies would have an enduring presence there after 2014, although the details of that were unclear.

The Obama administration has said repeatedly that July would mark the beginning of the troop withdrawals and that their size would depend on military conditions.

1. A friend of mine was there last week
He's a correspondent. He was there a few times a couple years back. He's said now he really noticed a difference. Last time he was there 1,200 Canadians and 8,000 Afghan soldiers were holding Kandahar. Now there's 35,000 US troops and a bunch more Afghans too. And he said that's made a big difference and getting out of there soon seems more plausible now.

4. The resistance to the Imperialist forces has just gone back hiding
in their caves, waiting there as long as it will take to bankrupt the Imperialist invaders.

This sh*t will never end until the bankrupcy, no matter what Biden, or Obama, or anyone else says.

20. '...out of the country by 2014 "come hell or high water."'
....our current crop of war-mongers must not be as efficient as the old crop....we defeated highly-advanced Nazi Germany in fours years but we need thirteen years to whip the poorest most backward third-world country on earth....

....I'm not impressed.

24. This statement is bullshit on its face
If there is nothing there of vital importance in 2014 that needs protecting, then what is the vital interest in 2010? If we can let the country go to hell in four years, why can't we take that risk now? Are all our enemies there going to be dead by then? I don't think so.

Either we have to fight this war until certain conditions are achieved, or we do not. It appears from Vice President Biden's statement that the vital interest is that we do not leave for at least four years. It is impossible to guarantee what the US government is going to do in four years in Afghanistan now.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.
