California Legislature shields records
Source: The Oklahoman

California is one of at least six states in which legislatures require less transparency for themselves than is required for governors, state agencies and local government bodies, according to a review by The Associated Press.

Legislatures in Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota and Oklahoma similarly exempt themselves.

The Oklahoma Legislature years ago exempted itself from the state Open Records and Open Meeting acts. As a result, state senators, representatives and their staffers can operate in secrecy not afforded to other elected officials.

4. I doubt it
considering California legislature is overwhelmingly blue, and it would take a majority to pass such a law. But I don't know one way or the other.

6. Wow
I didn't realize that. I guess I just assumed it had been blue for a long time. I remember he got his start there, but of course even blue states sometimes have red governors (MA comes to mind). I didn't realize it used to have a red legislature.
