Henry Kissinger apologises for 1973 'gassing Jews in Soviet Union' remarks
Source: DNA

Former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger has apologised for his remarks he made in 1973 during a conversation with the then US President Richard Nixon, when he had said that it would not be an American concern if the Soviet Union sent its Jews to the gas chambers.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Kissinger made the apology in a Washington Post opinion piece and said: "References to gas chambers have no place in political discourse, and I am sorry I made that remark 37 years ago."

Kissinger's conversation with Nixon was recorded and he could be heard saying that the emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy.

"And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern," he had said.

6. Funny how so many ex-politicians try to repent when thinking
about "meeting their maker", wanting to clear the air, etc. I remember watching a roundtable of ex-USA Secretaries of State who had changed their stances on certain issues, contrary to their previous actions on issues when they were in office. Just like elderly people who "see the light" in hopes of making it into heaven. Astounding.

But he's so old and still traveling the globe in what appears to be good health. Sometimes I wonder if he and Cheney are clones.

13. This apology seems to be directed towards the jews. He should also apologise
to the (former) Soviets, who have never put (or were about to put) their jews into gas chambers,
but rather paid more dearly then anyone else for stopping those who did.
