Barack Obama detractors, the birthers, face challenge from Hawaii governor
Source: The Guardian

Ed Pilkington in New York | Sunday December 26 2010 17.15 GMT -

=snip=

Neil Abercrombie, who took over the governor's office in Honolulu this month, is pledging to burst the birther bubble. "I'm going to take care of that," he told the New York Times.

For Abercrombie, the dispute is personal. He was a friend of Obama's parents, Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Obama the elder who was studying at the University of Hawaii on an exchange from his native Kenya.

Though Abercrombie was not present at the birth of the younger Barack at Kapiolani Maternity and Gynaecological hospital on 4 August 1961, he did get to see the baby thereafter. He regards the ongoing background noise of doubts surrounding Obama's US citizenship as an insult to his late friends. "(Obama's) a big boy; he can take sticks and stones. But there's no reason on earth to have the memory of his parents insulted by people whose motivation is solely political. Let's put this particular canard to rest," he said.

The governor is working with Hawaii's attorney general and health department to find ways of producing definitive evidence of Obama's Hawaiian birth. Full disclosure is restricted under the state's privacy laws.

1. It won't matter what they show
the birthers won't believe it. My mother in law started a politic conversation yesterday, I was doing alright until she through up the Obama wasn't born here and really believes it, had to walk out at that point and just end the conversation. Wish I could have went back to my home at that point. Refuses to listen to any reason.

8. Yep, they did not believe former Gov Lingle (R)
So they will believe Ambercrombie even less. Even though Lingle is a Republican, she is not a birther.

2. Vidoetape...
of his mother giving birth, with a view out the window to confirm the location and them telling the Dr. what they'd like to name him wouldn't be enough.

3. Good. Rub their noses in their stupidity. Arm us with the tools to demonstrate their idiocy.
It will help.

4. He's not going to put up with their bullshit
He's brash and he tells it like it is.

Abercrombie will make it known that the Birthers are not welcome in his state.

5. waste of time and effort
Jesus could come down from Heaven and tell them, and they wouldn't believe it.

Gov. Abercrombie should devote his time to something more useful.

I'm glad Gov. Abercrombie is going after these nitwits. As someone said, it probably won't make any difference because most, if not all of these people are dumber than stumps. I shake my head every time I hear them going on TV or writing letters to the editor claiming Pres. Obama was born in Kenya or Indonesia or wherever. I took two classes from Gov. Abercrombie when I was a student at UH and love the guy. A lot of people used to label him as some crazy liberal, but he has his priorities right and I always remembering him fighting for the less fortunate. I admire him and hope he proves to these whack jobs that they are indeed crazy.

7. There are two kinds of birthers
#1 The ones that know it is bullshit but spread the lie anyway. It won't matter.

#2 The ones that are stupid enough to believe the lie being spread by #1 despite the evidence that already exists. It won't matter.
